Question re Janome link up

If I were to buy a Janome 10,000 machine what would I need to transfer designs to machine. I have pe design and a conversion programme and also 4 slots on my computer for different camera type compact cards. I already have a 128 meg sd card. Would it be that easy to convert to jef and download onto card to put in machine or am I expecting it to be that simple, as I do not want a reader writer box. Liz

Hi Liz, The Janome machines use an ata card, you need an adaptor to hold the compact flash card then it slots straight into the machine. I have a jessops adaptor that cost £7.99 ( you can buy them cheaper on E bay) But this was the make my dealer was using on his and Jessops is just round the corner from his shop and I couldnt wait for one to be delivered.

Janome recomend the use of compact flash cards as many makes of the smart media and memory stick are not compatible. if you have a look at the Janome us website they have a wonderful amount of answers on there:

compact flash cards you can pick up on e bay really cheap as theyare the small capacity cards which no one wants any longer for thecameras! I found it impossible to get anything under a 64mb compactflash card locally. I got a couple of cards one for £2 the other alarger capacity for £5Unlike Brother machines you dont need extra boxes and software. If your pc card slots is able to write to the card then you will notneed anything else to get the designs transferred over to the compactflash card, When you first put a blank card into the machine it willwrite the necessary folders onto the card, all you do is then open afolder on the compact flash card and drag or copy and paste yourdesign into that folder. If you cant write to the compact flash card from your pc then you canpick up card reader/writers for around £5 quid. It is literally as easy as you think to transfer design, I use embird any format can be saved as. jef then all I do is drag the design onto my compact flash card.

You can also purchase the optional cables for a direct link to the machine I am not 100% sure if you need the customizer software to enable the designs then to be sent directly. Some dealers will try and make you think you need that software to do anything trust me you dont, it would be nice to have it but you dont have to have it to get designs to the machine

You do not need a card writer box for this machine. Hope this helps

You do need some software for the direct link between the PC and sewing machine. That software may be included with the machine. I believe machines (MC10001) bought in Canada until the end of the month come with the Digitizer package. Easy Transfer and Customizer also perform that function. These programs may, or may not, be included with the machine.
