I am wondering for all of you D1 users, if you use your machine for sewing

Okay, the Digitizer is costly but you do not have to have it to use the machine. The Customizer is mandatory for the Designer (to get the Disk Manager) and highly desirable for the Janome. I am very happy with my Designer and use it often but you get allot for your money with a Janome. As my dealer pointed out to me, the Janome is a Japanese product and this makes it cheaper.

Thanks so much for all of your input. I was only looking at the D1 because I have the Lily and love the machine. I was even considering looking at the TOL Brother. I guess only time will tell. At the moment, I can not even think about purchasing any of them, but wanted to get some opinions about an all in one machine. I will be taking some notes and I will be asking lots of questions. I have three options for dealers I have worked with. One of them even being Nancy's notions. I only live 20 minutes from the store. The other two dealers are about 30 and 45 minutes away in Madison, WI. I have 4 brands to look at that I know the dealers. Those include, Brother, Babylock, Viking, and Pfaff. I have the Pfaff 4874 serger and love that, so one brand is not the answer for me. I adore my Lily, but did not like the Viking sergers. I am quite impressed with the Pfaff serger and have not even approached using the 10 threads yet. I will sooner or later, but not until my DS is a bit older and out of my hair! He thinks it is fun to watch the machines go. Well, sorry for being long winded, but I do appreciate all of the opinions and I will be taking down notes of everyone and I will look to see where the nearest Janome dealer is to check out their machine. Sandy
