My wife has a Husquavrana Viking Designer 1 and the whole VIP software package. I would like to get her some instructional boooks/videos/whatever to improve her skills with using the machine and software. Is there anything out there? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I purchased a Designer I Owner's Handbook Viking Sewing Machines Inc. Printed in USA (c) 2000 Part #430000039 cost $29.95 It was created to help you lean your Designer I. It has what every button does, what symbols mean, and a place for the samples you make for each section.

This book did not come with the mach> My wife has a Husquavrana Viking Designer 1 and the whole VIP software

OMG.....that's terrible! The software was one on one with the instructor for 2 hours for your first Freebee, the second class, only for those who had the first two hours, was for a morning of instruction, only five in a class and it was great. But I went to a well established Viking Dealer that I had checked out thoroughly before I even bought my machine. I have been to 3 JoAnn's stores, I've already written about those places around here, and I think their Viking sections stinks, good thing I wasn't checking them out when I bought this machine or I never would have gotten it!

The sewing instruction on my machine was also just as good. Only four to a class and that instructor had us dancing with our machines by the time she was done. We made notebooks with stitch swatches and demos and instruction and documentation sheets. Plus I got a disc to print off more of these sheets for more binders as I did or discovered new things.

I can NOT say this enough, the price and the type of machine is only half the battle.....if you can't get really good dealer support and education I'd look elsewhere. The book 'mlange' has suggested sounds good, I haven't seen it, but that still doesn't solve your software problem. Do you have an actual Viking Dealer around you anywhere that isn't in Joann's to see about their instructors and support?

Nope, I'm in the middle of nowhere...Nebraska. No dealers, just Joann's Fabric. We had two Joann's Fabric that sold these, but one went out of business (the one were we got ours of course). I had a post here a while ago about our machine breaking down a lot and all the problems we were having. We finally got a hold of the main office for Husquavrana Viking. Looks like most of the problems were customer service at the local end. We kept hearing things like "Didn't they tell you ...", "Didn't they do....". Husquavrana Viking said they were working on a program to improve stores customer service and ours was going to be moved to the top of the list.

My wife knows how to use the machine and is getting lots of use out of it. Right now she's working on Christmas gifts for everyone. A while back she picked up some small throw blankets at Walmart, on clearance for about $2 a piece. She putting family names and Christmas icons on them. Turning out real nice.

She's just tough to sh>OMG.....that's terrible! The software was one on one with the instructor
