Seeking more font disks for my Viking Designer 1

Hi all:

I know I can locate (for sale or free) tons of free embroidery designs on the internet, and with my Disk Manager software I can create floppy disks of embroidery designs for my machine, however I am finding it difficult to find additional fonts. No, not embroidery designs of lettering (which kind of qualifies as a font), but rather a true font disk.

I did get a few font disks with my machine, and find that I would like more of them however it would be nice to have some which can be stitched at relatively small sizes (6-12mm or so).

I see I can buy the Pro software package from Viking which will permit me to create fonts from True Type fonts and then create actual Font Disks (something my Disk Manager will not do), but I can't justify the cost just for the want of a few fonts.

Anyone know where I can find some fonts for this machine? I like "free" but am not opposed to paying for fonts if fulfill my needs.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer about free designs, but I also have a Designer I and have problems with the cutter. It stopped working on any kind of fabric. It has been repaired once and immediately stopped working after returned from service. Right now I am waiting for the repair man to service it the second time. Have you had any trouble with the cutter on you machine? And if so, do you know how to fix it? By- the-way I really do love my machine, it is just this one problem. Thanks, Wanda

I sure wish I could help you out, Wanda. I've had my D1 for quite a few years now and I've not had any problems with this sewing machine. I don't understand what kind of cutter you have on your D1 that cuts fabric.......or do you mean the thread cutter? And I loooooooooooove mine, too. I bought the Viking 6440 brand new and sewed on it until I bought my D1, I use them both......sometimes running at the same time!
