Thinking of getting machine

I am shopping for a new embroidery machine and am wondering what is most user-friendly and fast. I am considering a Brother and a Janome. Would anyone care to let me know their experiences with various machines (not necessarily those two only)? Specifically, repairs encountered and how often, does manufacturer back up the warranty, how easy is it to use? Also, where to buy good used machines. I have a SingerXL100 now and love it but it is slow for embroidery work. TIA

I am a Brother lover!!! I have had my 2002D for 2 years. I bought it on the internet, read the book and have made many wonderful things!!! It is virtually idiot-proof. Best value on the market.........excellent engineering and tons of special stitches and so forth.....Brother ROCKS in my book!!!

look at the Janome 300e, its a dedicated embriodary machine. Very nice though fixed pricing keeps it at £699. It supposedly has the largest embroidary frame currently available on any machine.

User friendly is often only in the eyes of the person doing the sewing and fast mostly depends on the design being stitched.. You are the one who'll be using the machine. Sit down and try each candidate. Play with the machines' design creating and editing functions to see which is easiest for you to use. With the two brands you mention, you have to determine if you want to be "bothered" with having to attach the embroidery unit whenever you want to stitch out a design, or if you prefer the convenience of just attaching a hoop to the built-in arm. As for warranty, I believe both companies have a similar deal. Any warranty problems encountered may be more a factor of the individual dealer than the company involved.
