Thread question

Hello, all!

I've been using my Brother ULT 2003 D for about a year now. I haven't had any major problems with it but just have a question...

During some bargain-hunting mission many months back I purchased a set of various colors of DMC cotton machine embroidery thread. I don't use it very often since I prefer poly over cotton. However, when I use it, I invariably have problems with my thread breaking. I've tried slowing down the machine, adjusting the tension...all varieties of things but it never fails: the cotton thread breaks. Any ideas why?

Feel the "hip" around the eye of the needle. If it is quite a bump then get a better brand. I had severe problems with anythread on this machine for months until I stopped buying the garbage Janome needles from the vendor and got the 100 for $14 organ needles.

Old cotton can become brittle and dry, thus more susceptible to breakage. Try placing it in a freezer, when you take it out the condensation will add some moisture to it and should return some of the lost strength.
