Ultimate Box and XP question

Hello, Does anyone use the Vikant Ultimate Box with Windows XP? I just got my Ultimate Box in the mail but I'm getting a warning during installation. It says that "The software you are installing for this hardware: Card Reader/Writer has not passed Windows Logo Testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP." They give further warnings that to continue installation may destabilize the correct operation of the system. I have a message in to the Vikant support folks but I am impatient. I want to play with my new toy NOW! ;-) Just like Christmas morning when you don't have the right size batteries. The manual mentions one thing about using Windows XP so I assume that Vikant does actually work with XP and (hopefully) doesn't make XP any more unstable than it already is. Is there anyone out there who can give me their personal experience with this combination? TIA.

Hi Marilyn, Just ignore that message. It is something that Microsoft puts on. I get the same message when I load software too. Just go forth and enjoy!!!!

Thanks, all. I forged ahead and it all seems to be up and running. Now for the real fun, I need to download some of those fun designs I have been eyeing, put them in the card and try them with my machine. Oh, for free time right now to do it. Maybe tonight.

Thanks, Joanne. I have already had need to call them. They were very helpful but the answer was that I needed to return box and card to them. My 1+ refused to recognize the card. I double-checked by reading the card back through the reader/writer and it did have the designs and they were in the right format. Hopefully they will find out what was wrong and send me out a box which will work for me. So close and yet so far.

Discussion about using Ultimate Box with Viking embroidery machines snipped.

Joanne, It is going very well now! I called Vikant after I tried the card with my machine and it didn't work. I thought I tried it with more than one cassette and I may have but I didn't try it with _all_ my cassettes. I chatted with Vikant and they asked me to return it to them so they could check the box and card. There's a long story to it but through a mistake in shipping it was returned to me unopened. (Not Vikant's fault, they didn't get it.) I decided to give the card one more shot since it was back in my hands. I tried it with the cassette I had in the machine at the time and lo and behold it worked. If you have the 1+ and purchase the Ultimate Card, make sure that you use it with the embroidery cassette that came with the machine when purchased! I know the first cassette I tried the Ultimate Card with works with the plus hoop as well as the regular hoop. I'm guessing that somehow interfered with the card recognition. I haven't gone back and tried the card with that cassette again. I was just so happy to have it working that I immediately stitched out three designs that I had put on the card. Everything is up and running and I couldn't be happier. The Ultimate Box is great. Vikant is a very responsive and helpful company.

Definitely! I'm a happy customer and I would recommend them to other people in need of a reader/writer.
