I often find the "blanks" sold for projects like these to be of lesser quality and somewhat expensive (they are found in the craft section of larger fabric stores and in stores that specialize in crafts, like "Michael's" here in the USA). I find that I can actually make them myself using supplies I buy from remnant tables and linen sales.

For "blank bib" I will stock up on "fingertip" towels from a department store (often for less than $2 each, never full price, though I do end up with less popular colors). You then cut a 5" diameter circle hole on one end. Cut out a 10.5" by 3" strip of ribbing... sew the ends together to create a ring. Fold in half lengthwise... and pin it to the hole with 4 pins (quarters)... stretch the ribbing as you sew around, creating a neck finish to a bib. Some instructions here (measurements differ from mine):

have decorated them with appliques... but in the future I will use my newembroidery machine (which I am just learning how to use). Another thing that I have found quicker and better to make than the "blanks" sold are tote bags.

I'll second that. I had an embroidery design of my own that I wanted to put on a nice tote. I thought one would be easy to find, but everything I saw looked shabby and overpriced for what it was. I went with a yard of sturdy women's suiting material from Wal-Mart for $2, and the tote pattern from Wild Things (the free software offered by wildginger.com). The pattern was actually more complicated than the bags I'd been seeing in the discount/craft stores. Those were little more than folded rectangles with mitered corners to create a shape. I love the result and the style of the Wild Things tote, and all its dimensions can be customized.
