Which is the best way?

I would love to try some of the lace designs but I'm not sure how to sew them. Would you just stitch them out using Solvy? Do you use a backing if so what would I use?

Hope someone can guide me. Thank you.

Hoop several layers of solvy, then stitch your lace design. I made several Christmas ornaments with a fine metallic thread, then soaked the whole thing in lukewarm water for 30 minutes, then rinsed the rest away. They came out great! I did have to slow the embroidery speed way down to avoid shreading the thread, so they took 4 hours each to stitch out...

It should work well to use one layer of water soluble solvy. Sulky's is what I have used and it is heavy enough that one layer is plenty.
