whot is the difrence between poly and rayon thanks

i have a belina 600 machine but only just got it but when i got some rayon matalic thread the machine wont work just wraps round the bobbin in the bottom off the machine do i have to put a difrent type off thread in the bobbin or is poly ok or do i need a difrent needle any help whould be great thanks

I have the Bernina 650. Usually, I just use 100% cotton lingerie thread (60/2) for my bobbin thread, with either rayon or polyester on the top. I have never had a problem with the lingerie thread. Julie
