Hi, I've just got a laptop with XP Home, about to install XP Professional, I've looked in the husqvarna site but cant see a patch for this. Does anyone know if i need one and where in the site I'll find - I have looked through all the downloads. Also does anyone have any experience of the new software, how much it is and is it worth the upgrade.

Ann, Hi again. I have HV pro plus with XP pro on my machine. The only problem I ran into when installing the software was the system recognizing my dongle driver. There is a patch on the HV site.
You should have a smooth installation. I tried a gazillion times till I used the clean sweep, cleared everything and installed driver patch. Then I completed the pro plus install w/o a hitch.
3D software: I saw an event demo of the 3d software package. WOW! It's awesome. But I have a year to upgrade free since I just bought my pro plus software a month ago. My suggestion (and I follow my own advice) is to learn pro plus (master it) and upgrade later (if you can). You will appreciate the 3D software so much more. The VIP system is very similar to other emb systems so you can kind of cross-train and carry what you learn to other systems. Do the tutorials and quick sample exercises. They make a difference in your learning curve.Happy stitching, A-M

Thanks for the advice on the XP. I have haf HV full software for about 5 years and am fairly competent except for the photostitch. I just wondered what the new stuff can do that the VIP pro plus can't.

On the 3 system - it is more user friendly, I think up to 24 thread manufacturers, You can see metallics, glow in the dark and beaded threads, many more textures. If you recall the 3d view in VIP - well the new system looks likethat thoughout out the whole interface. More pattern options. Stuff like that. I'm new to it all so I can't be more specific than that on the details.

I'm certainly not a pro, there is always something still to learn and its great getting info from people such as yourself. I actually thought I had the up to date version til the other day. Enjoy your software - the best tip I can offer from experience is to never see anything as a waste of time, thread material but as a learning experience. Keep any disasters and write notes on why they are disasters and keep notes on all your work so remind yourself how you did what. The Red Book is good for this, it is not available over here in U.K.but a really kind lady in U.S. ordered me and posted it over, which was very trusting of her as she had to wait til the cash arrived her side.
