I have a friend who is planning on building a lamp made of small rectangular pieces of glass.
What type of adhesive should he use to attach the glass rectangles together?
Any preparation of the glass prior to gluing?

As with any glue job, you want the surfaces very clean? Are the pieces to be glued flat (stacked) or edge to edge (like folded paper)? Is the result to be viewed through the glue lines or across them? Is the glass opaque (opal, etc.) or transparent? Is this the shade or the base? Is the glass to be glued to something, like a bottle, or be a structure on its own?
