I see you're still posting. The news here shows your area as getting buku tornados. Is that correct? Looked like the whole state was in the tornado area of the hurricane. How about a "man on the scene" report.
Anybody else here in the beaten zone? Looked pretty bad. One bad ass hurricane.
By the time the center of the himmicane got to our N GA area, it had pretty well done several hundred million $$ worth of improvements in rural AL. We've had lots of rain and a few gusts of high winds where I live, but nothing like what we saw with Hurricane Opal. My power was out for a couple of hours this afternoon, back with Opal, it was out for 4 days. Old trees are falling on houses because the ground is saturated and the roots just can't hold on against what are some moderate winds. I guess we've had about
4" of rain since late morning and about that much more expected before sunrise Friday. I guess there have been a few twisters over on the East side of GA, mostly damage to the mobile homes scattered through the rural areas. My best buddy from highschool is an engineer with Gulf Power and he lives in Gulf Breeze, FL. I've been thinking about him all day and hope he is safe. That end of Santa Rosa Island sure took a whuppin'.
Does it correct spelling on NGs? I haven't seen one of those TAPES, is it video or audio? but if it is video and someone describes a process is it also audio? I have an interesting TAPE, but trying to decide if I should send it now, I might get my grammar corrected,
Just like publishers clearing house, watch your mailbox, for all that that applies to.....
...sorry to those that were offended, but "buku" instead of beaucoup, was slightly more than a typo, and was begging to be corrected. No harm, no foul.

Buku is as close to spelling the actual pronunciation as you can get. People spoke in animal noises in Viet Nam, not phonetically. Buku would have been uttered "Boo" as a ghost would say and "Coo" as in a dove call. Now, you could not learn to utter any of these without consuming a number of "Bah Moo Ee Bah"s*, further demonstrating the animal-like sounds. Afterwards, you could learn to utter the greeting "Whuh!".
A brand of beer brewed in South Vietnam, the words mean "33". It likely contained as much formaldehyde as ethyl alcohol and came in a glass bottle.
well is anyone out there from the panhandle area? From the videos, it looks pretty much annihilated?? Should i plan on them canceling the gulf shores shrimp festival on Oct.7?? also, anyone in Birmingham? again, the videos show the whole city as pretty much under water, anyone got any ideas on the Magic City art festival Oct 2?? my thinking is they really could care less at the moment and who would be buying art after this but you wouldn't believe some festivals reluctance in canceling (much less refunding money). m
It's a week later now (9/26) here in B'ham and everything's pretty much back to normal. There's a few folks on the south side of town that still have some flood water in low areas and no power, but other wise, we're all waiting on the city and county to pick up all the trees that have been cut up on are piled on the sides of the streets.
The film festival went on without a hitch this weekend, so I imagine the other festivals, etc., will go on as planned.
