the best way to crush glass to make frits

I usually go outside with a respirator. During cleanup I use a vacuum with hepa filter.

Question -

I have glass building blocks (8" x 8") that I drill a 1" diameter hole into the side - any suggestions on a great drill bit for this job? I have used concrete drills (works but takes forever) and Black & Decker makes one, but they do wear down quickly...any suggestions?

This caught my attention because my drilling leaves glass dust..

Please post here and I will read..thanks

Mike

can supply glass drilling bits of this size, either those with diamond on them or the shells that use abrasive to do the actual cutting.

it really is very simple and easy and quick and and and........

1>- get approx 1 foot of 2" pipe . (2" x 12" nipple from Home Crapo) 2>- get an old pickup truck axel (form any repair shop, they throw them out.)

3>- then make an outdoor area that has power to run a small fan, with airflow pointed away from you.

4>-put glass in pipe and mash with axel, then pour thru your screens. I use three different screens sizes to give very fine, med and coarse.

I do not get one particle of dust in my face. don't get too big a fan or your fines will disappear.

I use a lot of fritz in my work. ( I have 3 sizes of fritz every pieces of Spectrum fusing glass there is)

I'll have something presentable in a few weeks.

FWIW: I'm using Pittsburg Corning Decora LX Filter 8x8x4 block. It has a fiberglas sheet in its center for a light diffuser. I'm core-drilling a 1/2" hole behind this and inserting a

12V 50W quartz bulb powered at 25W. Fr>sounds neat. got a photo? m
