I'm finding that the last couple of years my job volume has gone way down, but the job size has gone way up. Everytime I think I'm going to slit my wrists, a huge job falls in my lap. It's the in between time that's baffling. I just don't see the small repairs and commissions as much anymore. I'm not complaining, it's less work for me at the same pay. I wonder if it's the disposable society syndrome? Folks are throwing away, and buying new alot more. Maybe it's the aging of the population? Also the basement bandits don't inspire the confidence required to get a big job that a legit company does. I find that many are afraid to go with a basement guy at 1/2 price sometimes. Even some bargain hunters. So in the end it all seems to be working out for all us artisans. Anyone agree?
