What is that blue plastic stuff? Other colors?

Wrong group, I know, but where to look? I am looking at one of those cheap blue plastic woven tarps that is part of a sun shade in my back yard.

It comes apart intothin strips about 1/4" wide which blow in interesting ways. I would like toplay around with this material in other colors. Any body know what it iscalled and where other colors might be found?

We call them "tarps" --- most hardward stores carry them -- I think it just depends on what stock they have available.

I have some different ones - a. one that is SILVER on one side and blue on the other. (the silver is somewhat "heat" reflective. b. A camoflage hunting one with a green back c. a Camoflage hunting style one with a forest green back.

I've also (rarely) seen them in

- plain brown

- plain black

- safety orange....

but heck - the internet is your friend... you can have them in lots of colors at this website -

This looks like a good source. The silver and white look like the solid stuff we sell. To everyone else, yah, I knew they were tarps. I bought the blue one at the hardware store where I work. But we don't carry any other colors. And I thought someone might have seen the "yarn" used to weave the blue ones.

From the blue tarps, older damaged ones, I have pulled off thin pieces and used them with windblown shapes. Want to try some others. The suggestion about the chair repair is possible, but what I have seen is heavier fabric.

Just go buy some tarps at Harbor Freight and wait a couple of weeks for them to deteriorate. ;>)
