been reading and stitching

Just finished all three books of Robin Hobbs Soldier Son Trilogy. Must read if you're into fantasy.

Finished (as in completely finished) three birthday gifts. Will take pictures to post after they've been opened.

And for some reason, an old crazy quilt kit jumped out at me and said DO ME! DO ME. It was from Pepperell Pepper Patch Place (sadly long out of business) and will be be a tool and needle case/book. there is room for a small pair of scissors . a seam ripper and needles

So yesterday, I pieced the fabric and started the embroidery and embellishment. The lace and such is placed along with a lace dragon fly. I've feather stitched one seam and laid out a spider web rose do in silk ribbon. Haven't completely decided how I'll treat the pocket other then the lace piece. I have an iron on ladybug in "rhinestone" that I'll "hide" under the felt for the needles. I'm hoping someplace in stash is a purple or blue ladybug button/charm I can add to the front. I'll post a progress picture in RCTN later today.

Now - I'm off to read the the Jill Walsh continuation of the Peter Whimsy books by Dorothy Sayer. I have Thrones, Dominations in hand and the newest one, The Attenbury Emeralds to pick up at the library. (where I'm also patiently waiting for the new PR Frost and JD Robb books).

So, off the camera, the post office, the library and to hit 3-4 nurseries to look at trees to replace a dead white pine that had been the head of the long garden bed. I want to find something with lots of visual interest and will provide food for birds.

Hugs all Cheryll
