Cloth shopping bags.

LOL - I think you could try Mirjam's directions. Or, just order some - you have all that other stitching to do

Of course, after stitch-in on Thursday a.m. - we could go to Uniquities with some of the instructions, and get you started, tee hee.

I'm staying out of Uniquities. If I don't see all that beautiful yarn, I won't want it.

I'm pretty sure I can just play around with a hook and string until I figure it out. But will print out Mirjam's directions as guidance.

Uh huh. Kiljoy. I haven't been in in a couple of months, and want some opinions on finishing the ginormous scarf I just am about done with (fringe, no fringe, etc).

I'm sure you can. And the site that someone else posted with the freebie directions. Personally, since I think Wegman's sells some open mesh bags ~$1 I'll spend my time otherwise. Plus, I totally run out of patience when I'm crocheting.

You have Wegman's! LUCKY. What a great store.

I'll take some $1 bags...LOL

Yup - we have a really nice Wegman's near us (well, about 4-5 miles). If you ever look on their locator - it's the one near Dulles Airport in VA. And this one actually has a kosher kitchen, so it's great for specialty items. We kind of split shopping between their (which has many temptations, but excellent meats, fish and good produce) and a local Giant - which I find better for sundries (Wegmans doesn't carry that many of the national brands if you're looking for staples or non-food). But, we love having the Wegman's close.

I don't know where the nearest Tropehagen Zoo is, or other pet store for that matter. I don't usually go, unless I'm visiting back home, and the cats need to go to the vet, or we need to pick something like food or sand for the sandbox up from there. The pet store is next to the vet, so sometimes I'll go in and look at the fish.

I have only ever known one girl who had a bunny. This was when I was

  1. I'm now in my thirtees.

I'm sorry if you interpreted anything I wrote as an attack on the U.S., as Friends is set there. It was an actual, perhaps very naive, reaction of shock at how someone *anywhere* would actually consider live animals as something to be acquired and then discarded soon after, perhaps when no longer cute. Or more work than was anticipated.

Although I can in no way claim to have been brought up in the countryside, my parents are both from farms, so I guess it's possible that their views on animals and what to do/not do, might have rubbed off on me.

I'm curious about one thing. You seem to have an indepth knowledge of Norway and local conditions. Is all this knowledge from the Internet, or are you finding yourself in Norway, and liking neither it nor us "weegies" very much?

Whoa there, hun...calm down. I suppose it is a failing of written text that it is unable to truly convey intent. Let me re-try this one piece at a time.

And that, I might add, has really taxed my ability to write Norwegian. The fylke has still not really approved me for norsk kurs, and it's been three years. So my apologies for it being so clunky and awkward.

Anyways, I can personally assure you that the sale of bunnies and bunny cages exploded right before Easter in Østfold. Our house is in a neighborhood with a lot of children, and many of them have rabbits. And the rabbits tend to disappear as summer approaches and the novelty wears off.

I didn't particularly see your comments as an attack on the US. I can understand your shock, as it is apparent that you were bought up as a responsible person. This is increasingly uncommon in the US, but it is also true in areas of Norway as well. Not all of the children in my area, apparently, have had the benefit of being reared with a proper respect for animals.

On a sewing and embroidery subject, I am looking forward to the 17th of May, because hopefully Husfliden will deliver the Mossedrakt og sølv in enough time for me to find some shoes to go with it.

I hope I have not made a poor impression on you. It is nice to see somebody else on here from this little corner of the world that I enjoy so much.

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend! Becky A.

PS: As a minor historical fact, the former President Herbert Hoover's beloved Norwegian Elkhound was named Weejie.

It is disgusting and happens more often than you would think. The figures in north America for rejected animals, animals euthanised etc. is heart rending.

Ouch. I checked, and you're right, it's bad. I don't quite know how to say this without sounding cruel or uncaring, but if you can't give away animals to someone you know will treat them right, isn't the prefered option to take them for a very last trip to the vet? (Ugh, it sounds bad, but...leaving animals you don't want by the highway to get run-over, or eaten by wild animals doesn't sound any better)

Yes, apparently. :(

Worst part is, this is me when I AM calm :) Seriously, I'll try, you're not the first person to tell me that's what I need to do.

I hope you get it in time, and remember to find some *very* comfortable shoes if you plan on doing any walking on that day. I don't know that there are any shoes more uncomfortable than bunadssko that don't fit properly. I finally bought new ones a couple of years ago when I was going to a wedding, and that was sooo the right thing to do!

I will unfortunately not be wearing my national costume on the 17th for several reasons. The most important being that I will be working that day, and the almost as important one being that a)it's at home in Tr=F8ndelag and I am not, and b)the closet must be damp, because it has shrunk considerably! Luckily my mum is in the process of making me a new one, which is a new one made based on clothes only recently found as I've understood it. The really funny thing for me, is that the clothes it's based on, has a high probability of having been worn by one of my ancestors, possibly as a wedding dress.

Absolutely not :)

I did not now that!

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply, but in my defence I wasn't able to see this post untill the 26th! I know, it still took me a long time, but I'm hard(ly) at work on a paper that's only three years overdue!
