Cross Stitch Magazines For Sale

Hi,

I have many cross stitch magazines for sale that are posted on RCTM. I'll have more, particularly CSCC, JCS, and others in the near future. I'm cleaning out my office and guest bedroom, and just have no more room to store these.

Please visit RCTM to see if you'd like to purchase any, and thanks for looking!

Cheryl

Why would you think it is okay to advertise here ? Didn't it occur to you that marketplace is where that belongs ? Sheesh!

I have been reading and participating in RCTN since its inception. I stitched a square for the Oklahoma quilt as well as a portion of the Firehouse Angel. I am not a spammer, but merely someone who thought it was appropriate to let cross stitchers know that there are some magazines for sale on RCTM. I knew of no other way to let such a group know about this. I am offended by your implication that I am advertising - I'm merely giving some information to those who I thought would be interested.

Please think the next time you write comments such as what you've written and the effect they may have on the person to whom you're directing them.

I apologize if I've offended anyone else, but there was a time when this was the appropriate venue for informing stitchers about items for sale.

Thanks! Cheryl

I did think - I thought - this is an ad - this is selling something, to the advantage of the seller. I suggest you would do well to think about whether what you write is selling something or not !

That would be prior to rctm.

That was my first thought as well--why would someone admonish you to "think first" if she is unwilling to do so herself?

Whatever happened to the FAQ, I wonder? The OP claims to have been reading the group since its inception, so she surely has seen it and is familiar with the "no advertising please" part.

Cheryl, I read your original post, and felt it was *absolutely* proper. Just a note to say you had posted things for sale on rctm. Please dont worry about some of the very rude people who post of this newsgroup. They are not worth bothering about. The majority of us (IMHO) dont objetc to the sort of post you put up originally. I`m often tempted by cross stitch magazines for sale - pity you`re not in the UK. As you say, why NOT mention that they`re available on here. It`s not as if you`re trying to push your sewing machines, books, fabrics or anything.

If everyone posts an ad here to say they have an ad elsewhere, why have a separate group for ads at all?

What's wrong with just putting the note in a .sig-- "I have things for sale on r.c.t.m." That way every time the person contributes to a discussion, they promote whatever it is they're selling.

I agree with Jim. I'm glad you posted the notice to check out RCTM about your items for sale because I generally don't read that newsgroup unless I know to look. Thanks for the "heads up" post, Cheryl, and no need for any apology.

I agree. Although this is a needlework group, there are a lot of off-topics, and the title was not misleading. So anybody try this: just ignore the posts that they are not interested in. It's easy enough for spammers to stick out like a sore thumb, and this is not the case.
