French Knots

I treated myself to the Little Book of Parterre and Knot Gardens put out by Christine Harris today. What a sweet little book. Has anyone done these? The absolutely darling knot garden designs are only less than 3 inches but there 10 of them and delightful delightful delightful! Definitely doing these ! Full good instructions and materials -- what fun ! Besides, I just got the tiniest little round German embroidery hoop 4 inches that I have not put to use yet. I love that this is only one stitch and will be just plain enjoyable compared with intricate things I have done lately ! barbie

Oooh - I have this book too. I love the texture of all the French knots and as always, the photos started my brain whizzing around with ideas of other gardens I could chart and stitch up.

Have you done any of them and what cloth did you use ? Since these are researched and all 18th century, they are perfect for my Federal era library project so doing these 10 first and arranging them somehow for use in there. Perhaps tiny frames and then scattered ; don't know . Maybe matted around the ten into one big thing? Can't decide. They are not intricate enough perhaps--- Have any ideas ?Barbie
