"Now a bit of unfortunate news: Gentle Art has again increased the price of their overdyed floss (Sampler Thread and Simply Shaker Threads) and we are unable to absorb this increase. We have not increased our price in several years (way before Hurricane Ivan) although our price has increased several times. As of Sept 1st, the new price is $3.25/skein (10 yards). Our current price is $2.95. If you want to go through your charts and order any colors at the old price, we will take your order through Friday, August 17th at 2pm. After Friday, we will sell any colors we have in stock at the old price but new special orders will be at the new price. I hate raising any prices but wanted you to have an opportunity to stock up if you want."

If you order from her, tell Kathy I sent you.

Ouch - great floss but now I wonder how I could buy it locally (in past years as I no longer have an LNS) for $2 for the 5 yard skein

Don't know about locally, but in the shop we haven't had our price go up yet

- it's still $1.80 for the 5 yards. But, I can't say how long that will go on. We had some other recent price increases from suppliers...Noticed a slight increase ($2/yd) on some hand-dyed fabric - but we've left the old prices on the pieces that were already there.

I wonder what will happen with Crescent, now that they are becoming more well-known, and they've gone into frame making. Hmmmm.

I really enjoy knowing what does on in the "inside" of a shop. I really had wished that Colonial hadn't just closed and instead go up for sale or looking for a partner. I'd have had a long hard think about it....

Isn't Kathy the nicest? I lived in Pensacola for many years and Needle Delights was my LNS. I then moved to Central Florida and then to La. She is so helpful and will either mail things to me or hold them until I can get to P'cola to pick them up!

I love her. It's the little things ... I sent her the dimensions to cut a piece of Fiddlers Lite. Of all the people I've mail-ordered custom cuts from, Kathy is the ONLY one who asked "which direction?" to make sure she had the color variation lines going horizontal (if they run vertically, it looks like rain falling).

That was a floral where the "rain" effect would've been perfectly acceptable, but on some other picture, it might've made a big difference in the end result.

And it's stuff like that that makes me recommend her without reservation to anyone without an LNS. I can even trust her to do the floss-toss for me. A while back, I was ordering for a Silver Lining (which meant also ordering the Anchor threads).

Based on the DMC I had on hand, I had a fabric in mind -- the piece I had here was not large enough for a Silver Lining. My ordering e-mail told her I wanted that color if she had it, and if not, something similar. Her e-mail the next morning, she had it in stock, but when she pulled the Anchor, she really thought something else would work better. I trust her color sense, and I'm glad I told her to go with the other one, because it does look better with the Anchor colors I didn't have here to toss.

Yes, someone else might have just sent what you asked for but she goes that extra mile!!
