Hello Again :)

I'm back to say hello again, and hopefully to stay this time. I quit my day job because the stress was killing me. Funny, we get a job to pay for the little things we enjoy in life, then have to work so there's no time to enjoy the little things in life! lol

So who's working on Christmas gifts, and what are you making? I'm torn between knitting toques, scarves etc., embroidering pillowcases / table runners, or 5 inch round petit point pictures such as flowers, family pets etc. for table tops and mantels. Then I think, 'what would I like?' I'd like it all though, so there's no help there. DH's indifferent shrugs don't help either. :))))

Ain't that the truth? The happiest woman I know is the one with the seasonal job -- in season she sets aside cash to pay for her craft supplies and in off-season she works on them.

I often think you can have money, or you can have time, but you can't have *both*!!

I'm making some pillowcases, too...but not embroidered; sewn ones. I found the neatest fabrics in a quilt shop last summer, and they supplied photocopied instructions for how to assemble pillowcases. So DD is going to get pillowcases with Eiffel towers/kitty cats riding Vespas and maybe mermaids (that one *may* go to my niece).

Welcome back - it's good to see you.

I'm working on a small ornament for an exchange at Guild, but most of my stuff is put away since we are moving next weekend.

Once we are settled in and I can dig everything out, I've got a whole list of things to finish (and to start ).

What alovely idea to make sewn pillow cases with patterns ,,, i always gave my children at least one `useful` present ,,, Lately i have made some changes in my closet and found that some of my older cotton summer skirts, were out of my taste, hence i cut them into some new pillow cases ,,, big fun ... mirjam

Maureen - I was wondering how you were only last week. Haven`t seem or heard anything of you for ages. I don`t blame you packing up work - the money`s nice but the freedom`s even nicer, isn`t it? Good to "see" you!

Last year my DFIL's wife and I went to a quilt shop (in NH) and she bought fabric to make each of her grandchildren a pillowcase for Christmas. In the pillowcase she put the small gifts she had for them. We picked fabric that depicted the current interest of each child ( frogs, ballet, horses etc). It was fun!!

Nice to see you again, Maureen! I happy for you that you got rid of the stress!

Not a Christmas gift but it is Christmas related. I have finished the stitching of the angel for my stuffed nativity set and am now working on the 2nd side of Joseph. I'm hoping to get him done so I can at least have Mary, Joseph and the angel done by Christmas.
