I remember you, Jenny, and your son's eye trouble! Glad to hear you are all doing well.

I'm just returning to RCTN myself, after about a year or two hiatus. I started a great new job (same company, different location), moved (from Carmichaels PA to Fairmont WV), met the love of my life, and got engaged. Needless to say, I'm just now finding time to stitch again.

Right now I'm working on Max's Moon over 1 (Dimensions), Feed the Hungry (Crossed Wing), a wedding sampler of my own design for my nephew & his wife, and Pennsylvania Redware (can't recall the designer), plus a long list of UFOs.

Trust me, every inch stinks some days - from the tips of their toes to the top of their sweaty little heads.

Hi Jenny,

Glad to see you're back, and that your son is doing well. No doubt 2 boys can certainly be keeping you busy. Looking forward to sharing stitchin' stuff - and more of course (around here for sure).

Wash gear. Wash gear. Wash gear. It helps with the stink transfer to the kids. Wipe out helmets with anti-bac soap - for some reason that helps. Did I mention - wash gear???? Put something like foot-powder in the gloves (helps with stink and absorbing - I have some with tea tree oil in it which also has antiseptic purposes).

No, my dear, it is their sweet little selves that smell to high heaven when all the gear is off and it went on clean and dry.

She better not have raging hormones.

Usually, he showers post-game/practice but that "body spray" can be pretty potent!

Hi Jenny,

you are certainly not the only "crazy" one. I have done embroidery on black, but now my eyes aren't the best anymore, so I do stick to lighter Colours. I still admire black, and sometimes the result is just stunning.

I remember you, Jenny - nice to see you back. You`d naturally have to learn to knit if you raise sheep!!! Glad the boys are doing well, but what a traumatic time you`ve had with your oldest. I hope all goes well for him from now on.

I`ve done a few pieces on black or Navy. I find it very daunting at first, but if you persist you sort of get used to it! Not my first choice, but as you say, the results can be stunning.

LOL! You need them to find them! Yesterday I lost my walkingstick. Now HOW on earth could I not find a walking stick in a small bungalow? Inspiration struck - if I buy a new one I`ll find the original one immediately.

It worked! I hadn`t been home five minutes before I found the old one hiding behind a curtain!!! (It`s not down to old age - I just need a bit of help with a broken ankle!)

Anyway, I like the new one better - it`s a folding adjustable one, so will be far less of a nuisance in the car.

Maybe the newer members could introduce themselves to Jenny?

I have heard that working black canvas with a piece of black felt underneath makes it easier to see, plus the felt hides the traveling of lighter threads. Yes, you work right through both the canvas and the felt! I would use wool felt rather than man made fiber in case of something odd in the fiber that might affect the work. Worth a try!

Finished Constantinople last night. It was designed by Estelle Kelley, in case youa re curious abou tit. I don't have a quick means of posting pics. I may post some recent finishes sometime. So doing a bit of a happy dance. Since I am not working right now, I have some extra time to stitch, but I have to be careful--DH thinks I should spend the majority of my time looking for a new job. What a thought! Income vs. stitching, hmmm...

Really, I am finishing up a bunch of class UFOs. But I am running out of ones that are close to being done and getting to those that have a lot of work to do. Hmph.

Put some fibers away and sorted through my fiber stash this morning. Didn't realize I had so many spools of Kreinik. But didn't have many mystery fibers. But I do want to know why I have so many skeins of DMC cotton floss? Do they breed in that drawer or something?

Nah. With the cost of day care, you'd be deficit spending.

Seriously, one of my co-workers, having a pregnancy scare, did a financial analysis to see how they could afford a third child, and in the process realized that with the costs of her working (wardrobe, commuting, day care, etc.) she was actually bringing home a whopping $5/month to add to the family budget. And promptly handed in her resignation.

She found some computer work she could do at home part-time in her jammies, and they were financially better off than when she had "a good job" in town.
