I am quite amused by the number of "needlework" apps I found in the iTunes store.
Most are knitting related. Stitch counters, needle size converters and project diaries. A bunch of quilting apps - though I wondered if the fabric stash ones would work for other stash. And jewelry one that looked interesting. Nothing was "free" so I didn't download any to try out.
There are some "podcasts" (think radio shows) that look promising.

Yes, but if you have a non Ipod, you can download radio shows from all over the world without paying a cent. I simply download to the computer and transfer to my Sandisk.
Have you got a link to the shows someplace, I'd like to go investigate.
What I would love to find is a place to watch an entire episode of Shay Pendray or some of the other "craft" shows on PBS. None of the local stations (PBS) carry them

I will send you my list of links - you have to do your own searching for what you like. I really like Womans Hour on BBC - back in the day it was a programme I loathed but now it deals with all sorts of issues, or a womans slant on current issues, and is a relevant programme.
I have been podcasting for a few years now, I listen to them through the night when I can't sleep.

I like the Poetry link on NPR directory, some of them are lovely and in any event, someone reading poetry always appeals to me. Here's the list I sent for Cheryl, for anyone who might be interested.
Don't you download free podcasts to your computer, as well? I don't pay for most of the stuff I download via iTunes - use it as a tool. Just pay for apps that ask you to pay for them. Then move whatever to the iPod that we want to - I'm assuming Cheryl, that's what you do with the iPhone or your iPod.
The Howard University PBS station here, our 3rd PBS, carries a lot of stitching and sewing shows - they may have some that are downloadable, or certainly viewable. I'll try to look around.

Isn't it great - she has a fabulous voice for the food topic, as well. I'm pretty sure this was where I got inspired into the "450 degree oven" thing - about just turning it on when you walk in, and then find stuff to throw in and roast (with drizzled oil, some spices, etc).

Love this show. I don't always catch it on the radio, but I'm getting better remembering to download it and listen to it. Truly a wonderful source for inspiration in the kitchen.
Plus you get wonderful people on the show like: the Sterns. I have a huge fondness for Jane and Michael Stern, ever since I bought Square Meals back in the 80s. It's the stories that go along with the recipes. I want to be these people - driving around eating at different places then talking/writing about the experience.
And the new cookbook - the Splendid Table - How to Cook Supper is wonderful, too!

Really early in the morning, and then sometimes mid-day. It's kind of erratic. If you're interested, I'd check their website and see what it says for program guide. I'm always happy when I stumble onto one of the shows.

Well, that explains it! Not my key TV-viewing hours. (Though I do watch a soap at lunchtime that's turning into total dreck, so maybe I should check out something more uplifting during my lunch break!)

What I've found - or not - is "surprise" - there it is - a sewing show. I think that Howard Uni (WHUT) station just moves their programming around. For a while they were showing some really older, more simple Quilting shows
- but then I'll find Fons & Porter or sewing with Susie Kalje. I usually find them at around 7 in the a.m., and then sometimes around 11- 12:30 there might be 2 or 3 in a row. Also, I don't know if your cable has them, but with our FIOS we have the extra stations for WETA & WMPT - WETA has one called "WETA Create" - and they tend to sometimes have sewing shows. I know that I've watched "Kaye's Quilting Friends" which I think is a bit older, and much more "country" for lack of a better word than my taste, but, hey, it's something.
We must be due for a get together.
