Komfort Kuties Show and Tell

After getting my digital camera's batteries charged and inserted properly, I threw together a virtual show and tell for the stuff I've made for the upcoming stitch-a-thon to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation:

driving force behind the project is moving so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the event will go as planned.

What wonderful work! I especially like the mermaid doll, and I love the idea of CD faces! Now I have something to do with the ones that are destroyed. Good luck with your event!

Anne, do you have any formal art or fiber training? If not, you should go for it. You have something special. You're never too old.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm in awe of people who can follow patterns of any kind -- XS, counted work, beading, knitting, crochet, sewing (what have I left out?) If I could do, I'd be doing the same old boring stuff the rest of you do

I have a hard time designing from scratch and do a lot of web surfing for inspiration and ideas. I tell myself that I'm not plagiarizing or stealing designs, I'm doing what art students do when they study the masters.

And I wish I could be so innovative and inventive as you are. It looks like much more fun.

The only art courses were done in college eons ago and they were geared to prepping me to become a kindergarten teacher. I've been tempted by some of the extended study programs held at EGA HQ which is not that far away but have held back mainly because I think I'm such rank beginner. Cost is a factor too. I've attended one national seminar, 2 regional ones, and several chapter retreats, and have taken classes with visiting teachers to learn new techniques.

I'll be going to the seminar in Louisville next fall. I don't know what classes I'll get into but I shied away from the 'why' ones and picked 'how' ones. "Teach me something useful. Don't confuse me with facts"

How about we swap -- you do something for me like a hardanger design and I'll do something for you.

I reread this and thought it might have come off as very arrogant. What I was trying to convey and did so very badly was that at this time, I can't handle book learning and research which I used to love and prefer hands on educational opportunities.

I didn't see it as arrogant, I think most will understand what you mean.
