Kreinik to Treasure Braid

Does anyone have both Kreinik 684 and Treasure Braid 43? Is the Kreinik a good substitution? The only online conversion chart I can find dates from 2007 and is not very comprehensive. TIA, Sara

Sara, do you have the names of them? I'll take a look - as I have a lot of both these. Personally, I prefer using Treasure Braid as it seems to be a bit softer in the stitching. Treasure bread is kind of about Kreinik 8, Petite TB between a 4 and slightly finer.

My suggestion is you go look at the Rainbow Gallery site, and see the actual picture of the Treasure Braid, then compare that with a picture of the Kreinik from the Kreinik site. Will probably give you a better idea than any conversion chart. Rainbow gallery has actual photos up of their sample cards, and I'm pretty sure that Kreinik does similarly.

This link is to their cards, scroll down - you'll find the Treasure Braid card pages.

Replying to myself in bad netiquette. I think that the Treasure Braid 72, Aegean Blue might be closer. I have that one in hand, it's really nice and blue turquoise. Also, 22 The Dark Turquoise looks close. 43 is a pretty good match, I think it's lsightly greener than the other two. Any of these would work, IMHO. It's whatever you like, really. And you can look at what it's being stitched near.

Best way to look at the Treasure Braid - try the Petite Cards, it's 2 pages, cards 1-4, and then 5-7.

Happy stitchin' - whatever you choose!

Thanks, Ellice. I have the Kreinik color card with actual samples, but not the Treasure Braid one. I'm waiting on a thread pack (something must be backordered) for my new Chatelaine and I've gone about as fer as I can go with the threads I have. But I've pretty much decided not to start subbing now. Next time I place a NN order I'm getting the Treasure Braid color card.
