I haven't a clue, but I (at first) thought this was a German word and couldn't imagine what it might mean. Had to read it several times.

I have never been to this shop, but it might be worthwhile. Velbert is between Essen and Düsseldorf.

Mit Nadel und Faden Bahnhofstr. 29

42551 Velbert

Tel.: 02051/605760 Fax: 02051/605761

You might also try any large department store. Kaufhaus etc. usually have a nice selection of cross stitch stuff. Also try the yellow pages for the following keywords. Handarbeiten; sticken; kreutzstich; faden; garn. I love the RICO pattern booklets as well as other cross stitch patterns by European designers. Here are some fun websites:

Thanks. I will be visiting a friend of my mom's, they have known each other since they were 12, (that's 57 years wow!). Will be there from Mon-Fri.

This might be a little late, but maybe will catch you just in time. I do not know of any LNS in Düsseldorf, but I have never looked for any of them there, but as the Ruhr valley is basically one big town, here are two suggestion for LNS.

There is a very nice needlwork shop in Essen, which has a huge choice of fabrics, patterns and yarns:

Käß Handarbeiten Steeler Str. 511

45276 Essen

Tel: 0201/ 51 09 48

(Take the streetcar line 109 to Steele and the LNS is right at the next to last stop)

There is also a shop in Oberhausen, which I have never been to, but I had very pleasant dealing with by phone when I needed several colors of Marlitt. They are the official distributor for Coats and Madeira embroidery yarns and should therefore have all color available.

Delgarda stemmerstr. 6

46145 Oberhausen Tel: 0208/67 42 75 Fax: 0208/67 53 28

Enjoy your time in Germany, it looks like this might be a real summer, but be prepared for thunderstorms.

Thanks, someone else reccomended K=E4ss also, so it's probably my best bet, along with the Kaufhoff. Looking very much forward to going. Phew, sometimes packing is easier than planning what to take with me, hehe
