Northern Needle Newsletter (www.NorthernNeedle.com)

As you can see from the New Products page I'm finally getting caught up = on getting items back online. We have a 30% sale on kits going on = through the end of the month, which even covers those newest kits added.

Mothers Day and Fathers Day are coming up over the next two months. = Check out the Pocket Sampler: Dad and Pocket Sampler: Mom designs by = Heart in Hand. Beautiful designs, but small enough to finish before the = big day!

I love the hand-dyed wool by Weeks Dye Works, so I've been keeping my = eye out for designs to use them. Check out the appliqu=E9 designs by = Cows Hill. You'll also find some wonderful new embroidery designs. A few = new things to try. I hope you like them.

I have also added some Crewel kits by Rowandean. All kits include = everything you need to create some beautiful pieces.

Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Earlier this = month it felt like summer, but now the temperatures have dropped to = normal (chilly!). Docks and boat lifts are starting to go in as everyone = prepares for the start of summer at the lake - Memorial Day weekend. = Unbelievable to think it's only a month away!

Take Care & Happy Stitching, Wendy

I don't think this newsgroup wishes to see your product page. This ad should be on rec.crafts.marketplace, not here.

This is surely true but I'm much rather see this here than the one about what happened to the man who "misplaced" his needle.

At least this is a bit More "right one" to the stitching world.

There's where we differ, both are aggravating but at least the misplaced needle gave rise to some humour, though I guess the female side found it more amusing lol

However, if they are allowed to post ads without comment, pretty soon we will become rctmarketplace. Ads go in forsale groups and discussions go in general groups.

A few years ago in my local group it became unbearable with ads. A few of us mounted a campaign to trash the ads and ever so gradually they declined. Now finally it is not too bad but some of us will still jump on an ad right away. Either that or we will have an unfavourable 'discussion' of their product and they don't risk that again and post in the appropriate forsale group thereafter!

Oh I fully agree with you on this subject. AND as a Male I found the other hillarious even if it had to come from a Jerk and the jerk was a male. I don't know if the person with the sales had done it on this site previously OR did she not know about the Market place site? I know that it was a long time before I found out about it. Didn't there used to be an automatic post to this RCTN giving protocol et al? Can something be set up to automatically mention the proper place to do any sales, etc.? It might be of especial help to any newbies that come along.

The automatic postings used to be done by Kathy Dyer. There have been messages about her web site recently.

I looked in at Kathy's site yesterday, and noticed it had been updated within the last month. I don't remember the exact date, but I went for " old times sake".

Yes, I thought too that he would not get the horrified reaction that he probably expected, OTOH it is probably best not to react at all but it just seemed so... lol And of course, who knows ? He might just be a she!

Kathy Dyer had a FAQ she used to post periodically but from other groups I habituate that doesn't necessarily work either. I think telling the posters their ads are not welcome and why, works to some degree because more reasonable people, who might have posted their ads, then see it's not a good move. If you think in the long run, it's probably worth it to make it clear ads do not belong here.

I don't know, I think that sometimes it is just that we seem so beset by ads, it's pervasive, that it is just nice to read places like rctn and not be confronted with more commercialism, even if it is stash related.

Cheers, Sheena
