I went to a quilt show yesterday and came away very inspired

despite the title, World Quilt Show, I wasn't really expecting much - maybe some quilts from Canada. Oh was I wrong - every continent was represented magnificently. There were traditionally pieced quilts, art quilts, fabric art, beaded, embroidered, snipped, frayed - if you could do it with a needle, thread and fabric, they did it. Some used traditional piecing and created explosions of color. Or told the story, in series of pictures. Many were beaded and buttoned. Or tucked, folded to burst away. One quilt from distance looked like a granny square (crocheted) afghan. Each square was quilted and buttons of fabric looked like the crocheted flowers at each intersection. I'm in awe - just in awe. Wish I'd gone Friday and returned on Sunday with my real camera.

Did come home with some stash. I bought a needle felting kit with the needles. It's a ladybug pincushion. The same shop had punch needle and knotwork kits/supplies, along lots of felted bead kits, roving and for wool applique. It's a long ride to Maine to the shop, but it was so wonderful browsing, i might have to make the ride. Got some buttons and trim pieces and marbled fabric to finish pieces. I'm kicking myself for not trying harder to find the shop that did hand marbled fabric for some fat quarters.
== Also stood and listened to Jennie Rayment - aka The Mistress of Muslin. She was demonstrating several of her techniques
