On topic: amazing video

I was browsing online and was led to the Victoria and Albert website, and while looking the articles on it I found this video:

hope it works for you. I'd seen this casket in Piecework magazine a year or two ago, but the video brings it close up, and you can see the textures and details.

Enjoy!

WOW!

Yes, I've seen it in other publications as well. But there was something fascinating about watching this video . . . the production. And yes, some really lovely close ups.

Wow, that's amazing -- and for an 11 year old girl, well, wow again. How beautiful!

That was such a lovely piece. It's amazing what young girls were able to do without the benefit of electricity, magnifying glasses (well maybe they had those), or computer programs to help them design.

The video of the Martha Edlin casket made me curious to see what other needlework treasures The Victoria and Albert Museum might hold. I found this:

sad that the poor girl felt she had no other outlet for her frustration and sadness than her needlework. It made me really appreciate how far we've all come, and how many choices we all have in our lives.

The V&E holds needlework treasures that would take weeks to properly examine. They are beyond belief. Any needleworker going to London should leave at least two days for the V&E, and all the other departments are every bit as interesting.

If there is something you especially want to see, call or write ahead. Last time I was in London I wanted to especially see the case with the Jane Bostocke sampler. At that time the lock was broken -- in the locked position, of course. :-(
