OT: DC folks ok?

Everyone ok?

Just checking after seeing the downed trees and hearing about so many without power.

We never even lost power at our house. Lots of branches down and part of back fence will need repair. Feeling grateful for all the buried power lines in my community. Lots of people around me, not so lucky.

We were without power for 5-1/2 days...it got very old. I work at a church down the street, and it had air conditioning, so a few folks (including myself) were spending nights there. It was just too dang hot inside the house, after temps in the upper 90s all day. Most people in my immediate area are back on the grid, though many just came on this afternoon - a week without power. And the pump at the local pool got wrecked by lightning, so the pool's been closed all week, too!

That's twice in less than 12 months for us - we were w/o power for six days after the hurricane last August. At least then it wasn't so blasted hot!

I'm not sure which would be worse...when it's above 90 or when it's below zero!
