OT: Dog Search!!

Hi Guys,

So, I am finally able to start looking for a female Lhasa or Shih Tzu to adopt!!! I spent about five hours on the computer yesterday looking at dog rescue sites in Lizard Land and the Southwest. We (DD & the SMDGD insist they must go along) will be meeting Large Marge this Saturday. She's b/w and 9 or 10 years old. A bit older that I prefer but I'll still go meet her. Large Marge can be seen at

ID #7396659Next weekend -- 10 Sept -- I will be picking DH up at the airport and we will go to Tucson from there. I'm not sure if DD will go along but I bet "R" will jump at the chance. In Tucson, we will meet Lucille who is also a b/w female who is about 7 years old. Lucille can be seen at

ID #13427492I have also been in contact with a Lhasa Apso rescue group that has chapters all over the country. The closest chapter is in the Ft. Collins area and they have at least one female who needs a "forever home". I spoke with DH about driving up there (more than 750 miles so a two day trip for me) to meet the doggie. He said that if I wanted to go, I could use his Delta FF Miles and fly up to Denver and rent a car. I haven't seen this dog yet so I am hoping that the foster mom will send me a photo as I asked. One way or the other, I will be getting a doggie sometime within the next few weeks, I hope. Cassie (Old Lady Baby Cat) will be royally pissed off when she finds out she has to share me and the house with another animal -- LOLOL! She probably won't talk to me for days!!!! So now I am saying prayers to St. Frank (don't even think of saying it Sheena -- LOL) to help me find the doggie I need and who needs MOI.Wish me luck, OK?? CiaoMeow >^;;^<

WHAT carpet??? I am in the cabin and have grubby wooden plank floors! I'm going to tell DH that I need to have part of the "yard" fenced and a doggie door put in the arcadia door we never use. That way I won't have to be getting up and down all the time to take the dog outside! There is another possible doggie who is in Colorado. She is just darling and I want to bring her home already. DH has already said I can fly to Denver to see her if I really like her. From her photo (sent as part of an e-mail so I can't post a link here -- sorry), she's the one I want. I know better than to make up my mind that quickly so I will see the3 other two doggies and then I will go to CO to meet this new girl -- Akasa is her name i think to post the photo I will let you all know.. If I ever get a CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I gave one to a friend in the UK as when I was staying with her we came home one afternoon and there was chaos. Another cat had come through the cat door and a clearly wild chase had ensued throughout the house. We finally tracked them to a bedroom where stranger cat was atop a chest of drawers and home cat was challenging it to jump down!!

Here in NS I know people have had problems with racoons and skunks entering if they didn't have the controls.

Good luck with the adoption though - I found it to be incorrect that you will never get a dogs loyalty in these circumstances; in fact my last dog was perhaps a bit too loyal to me and frequently nipped David though he didn't deserve it.

We have one of these "electronic" pet doors in the house in GA. We put it in "backwards" -- animals could come IN to the house but you needed the magnet on the collar to get OUT of the house. We put it in this way so that sneaky Reno (Black Cat) couldn't get outside! The cats had all been able to use the pet door we had in the house in Lizard Land so we knew if we put a regular one in Reno would be outside in a heartbeat. This way, the dog could get out as needed but not the cat. I'm here to tell you that Reno was right on Suzi (run away from home to go walkabout) Dog's tush whenever the dog went out -- hoping she would be able to follow right "behind", I'm sure. Never worked tho'! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
