OT:Fibromyalgia

I wondered if any of you Fibromyalgia people out there are taking the new drug Lyrica? What dose did you get to before it helped? I started it on Monday and I'm only taking 100 mg so far. I don't see any difference yet.

I haven't tried it yet. I'm hearing from some people that it's wonderful and from others that it didn't help them at any dosage.

To me, the side effects (joint pain, etc.) sounded so horrible that I'm going to have to feel much worse than I already do to even think of trying it.

Tamara, I am on Lyrica and Cymbalta. Theraputic daily dosage for Lyrica is 300mg-600 mg. My Physician had me on 75 mg twice a day and it didn't do anything for me and I was on Lexapro. I was sent to a Pain Clinic and they are the ones that upped my dosage to 150mg twice a day and Cymbalta

20 mg twice a day. I noticed improvement fairly quickly. I also take daypro x2,ultram x2, and flexiral at bedtime. I still have really bad days if I over do it(a mid day dosage of Lyrica, ultram, and vicodin and to bed I go). It seldom keeps me down for more than 1 day. But I no longer have the burning nerve pain, or feel as if I'm tied down with weights. Odd pains and exhaustion by days end are still there, but this is a regime that I can do. I occasionally still get blurred vision, but usually its the first sign to back off for me. I do use an elliptical several time a week. HTH Bobbie

PS I do not have other health issues such as heart problems or diabetes.

Hi Tamara: It's your old fibro buddy Moni. I've been wondering about Lyrica as well, but for now, my medication is really spot on for controlling the pain. However, I'm on a medically run liquid diet, and as I lose pounds, we'll be redoing my dosages of medications, so I might bring it up at that time.

I'm also going through lots of stress and happiness which can skew my pain levels: Mom died, Dan just retired yesterday (we're euphoric), I have a granddaughter and a new grandson is due in May, Vicky is getting her doctorate this year, etc. All stuff my doctor says can affect the levels of pain so we'll be watching it closely.

I hope this works for you. Are you still getting massages? I still can't tolerate them but keep having the urge to try. Moni ---- Posted via Pronews.com - Premium Corporate Usenet News Provider ----

I thought that too, but then I thought, I already have all of those symptoms. I haven't noticed any problems yet. But then I haven't noticed any relief yet either.

Amtrak runs to Reno, so take whatever train you need to connect to the California Zephyr (which runs from SF to Chicago, with stops in places like SLC and Denver). Let me know if you're coming and maybe we can share a room.

I'm asthmatic and have to take several drugs each day. A friend sent me this little rhyme that amused me:

A row of bottles on my shelf Caused me to analyze myself. One yellow pill I have to pop Goes to my heart so it won't stop.

A little white one that I take Goes to my hands so they won't shake. The blue ones that I use a lot Tell me I'm happy when I'm not.

The purple pill goes to my brain And tells me that I have no pain. The capsules tell me not to wheeze Or cough or choke or even sneeze.

The red ones, smallest of them all Go to my blood so I won't fall. The orange ones, very big and bright Prevent my leg cramps in the night.

Such an array of brilliant pills Helping to cure all kinds of ills. But what I'd really like to know... Is what tells each one where to go!

I`m ALWAYS asking myself that, Bruce, and I`m certain that some of them sometimes take a wrong turn!
