OT: For the readers/thinkers/puzzlers

So, since we all seem to like doing these kind of things, and have been talking about writing, reading, etc -I'm forwarding a link. This is a "Vocabulary Test" - which came to me from Thrillist. Anyhow, the test seems to be a reasonably valid thing, only took a few minutes - it's in a couple of stages to do, depends upon you answering honestly - checking words for which you know at least one definition (not just it seems familiar). At the end there is a very brief survey about your age, education, native language

-and then gives you an estimate of your English vocabulary, as well as what the estimate for the average English speaker in the US is.

Some good words, too. No address, personal info asked for.

Ah, something which we agree upon, across the political & other divides. I just don't get them - but, whatever. You'd think that if people actually were interested in our chats, that they'd just come to RCTN. Of course, then while it would be nice to have that great variety of personalities, some of us - like me in particular - would go back to less personal discussion as we'd lose our so to speak intimacy. Ack. Too much else in life to concern ourselves with.

Anyhow, I thought the vocab quiz was a quick, kind of interesting thing. And didn't link to some stupid cell phone marketing thing.

FWIW, Thrillist is a kind of trends blurb sheet, which covers the US, and specifically some cities. Does DC, and often has info on restaurants, openings, arts stuff, and is easy to quickly browse and delete. I haven't gotten any spam from them.

My argument with sew girls is that they just take the posts they want and put them there. They have never asked if posters here minded (a la facebook style) and worst of all, they make a few bucks off us by selling ads on their pages. Some unfortunates ask a question there and do not realise they are asking us.

I have wondered if one of us went there (to sew girls) and then said in a post 'if you really want good info try going directly to rctn' whether they would allow that post. Since it's a forum style setup I don't suppose that would ever show up.
