Freezing rain will coat your car, driveway with ice. Sleet is more towards icy snow flakes. The latter is safer than the former.

It is really snowing out now. About 1/2 to 1" already in some places. There are evening church services and many 2nd shifts are being canceled according to the radio.

The morning should be interesting.

We ended up with about 2" of snow but that was in the middle of the night. The temps were all over the map and it rained then it snowed then there was sleet then more snow. When I got up at 7:00 AM, there was still a fair amount of snow on the grass & plant areas and only wet rain puddles on the concrete and asphalt. Of course, ice was expected and around here that is *really* treacherous because folks don't know how to drive on icy roads. As a result, all schools are closed and a lot of small businesses, too. I won't be going anywhere today -- thank heavens I did my errands yesterday -- LOL! I'm sure there are icy areas all over and I have absolutely NO experience driving in those conditions. Better I just keep off the roads and stay home and keep taking down and packing up the holiday decorations. It takes me several weeks to put the stuff up and takes that long to get it all down.
