OT: House is SOLD & moving on WED!!!

I've been posting over on Facebook cuz I can do it from my phone. To read RCTN, I have to drag out my laptop so I haven't been here in a bit. So -- the house update...... We got an offer for the house on 29 January and accepted it with a few changes that evening. Within a few days we had agreed on everything and then had to go through the whole home inspection & repair stuff process. During all of this, we were in Pigeon Forge for a long weekend, the following weekend we went to Lizard Land to look at homes in the mountains (bought one, too) and the next weekend we left for a 5 day cruise. The last day of Feb. I had my Needlework Group over for the monthly meeting and that weekend DH started work on the repairs the buyers had requested. The buyers came by on 14 March to inspect the repairs and accepted everything. We finally met them at the closing on Thursday 21 March and the woman -- Pam -- and I spent more time yakking than we did signing papers. They are a couple in their mid-50's with 3 grown daughters. They have lived the last 6 years in the Netherlands. They LOVE dogs & cats AND better yet they LOVE the house and the yard and the terraces, etc. Their oldest DD and her 2 kids (girl 10 & boy 5) and 1 cat will live with therm as well their middle DD & her DH (no kids, 1 cat). Since they haven't seen much of the family for the last 6 years, they are pleased as punch about this. We had them over on Saturday to go over the drip irrigation system, how to program the Malibu lights, talk about all the plants, etc. We really like them and it honestly warms my heart to know that we are leaving our home and beautiful yard to people who will love everything as much as we have. Also, since they have almost nothing as far as furniture goes, they are taking anything we don't want to keep! Some stuff was included in the sale of the house, some stuff they paid us for and some stuff we are just giving them cuz it's easier than trying to schlepp it to the Goodwill!! Pam said we can leave any cleaners, etc. that the movers won't pack and not to worry about cleaning the cupboards and other stuff. She spent her whole time here loving on Auggie and holding Tippy because they haven't had a pet for the time in the Netherlands. Speaking of the babies -- we had to get Bunny Sue & Ivy Jayne isolated in the J&J bathroom. No problem with Bunny Sue but Ivy Jayne is the half feral one that we can't get near. We got a catch & release trap, armed it, put in some tasty food and left it and the cat on the screen porch with the cat flap locked and no other food. It took 3 days but Ivy Jane finally took the bait. Problem is that she somehow managed to eat the food and get out of the trap without setting it off until AFTER she was out!!! DH told me he found the rap sprung, the food bowl empty and Ivy Jane sleeping on one of the chairs -- LOLOL. Yesterday we geared up -- long sleeves, gloves, scarves around our necks, etc. and went out to try and get hold of her -- an activity that usually ends up with DH and myself bloody messes!!! We started moving things around to give her fewer places to go hide and she started getting more scared and panicky. She ended up cowering in a corner near DH and he just reached down and got hold of her. I threw the cat blanket over her and while DH was trying to readjust his grip, she started to slither out from under the blanket. I managed to get her by the scruff of the neck while DH got hold of her solidly and we got her into the J&J with a very stressed Bunny Sue. Poor Bunny had been crying all the time cuz she didn't like being isolated AND all alone. Now that her best buddy is in there with her, we hear nothing -- not a sound. Best part is that Ivy Jane will let you come up to her and pet her and she LOVES it. She purrs like mad and does the "love me Kitty Dance" the whole time. You have to approach her slowly but she just waits for the loves to start :-))). OK -- time to be off for a bit. The big computer is packed up so I have to use the laptop so I will be reading and posting a bit more. CiaoMeow >^;;^<
