I'm here, but briefly. With one kid in Calif and the other in the U.K., all the cards and presents have to be out. I got all the presents either ordered online or mailed, the plain ol' cards have gone, but now I must write the annual letter which goes to those who have expressed a desire to keep on getting it. Thank goodness for computers. I am still writing the main body of the letter, then will add bits on top to the various recipients. The ones to U.K. and Canada MUST be out tomorrow, and I would like the rest of the U.S. ones out then too.

Then, provided I meet that deadline, we will decorate the house next week. So, I'm here, but just dropped in to read other folks news. Gotta get back to Microsoft Word!

Oh well. Just blame my lateness on Katrina Syndrome. There's a lot of it going about around here at present.

I'm here. If you look toward the south from your window, you'll see me waving. That is if you can get an image through the rain and wind we're having.

Or, since I'm also bored, you could get in the car and come on down.

It's raining here too, you sent it didn't you ???? Actually, I won't complain, it brought the temp right up to +10C this afternoon, not bad for Dec 14 but my Scottish side says "We'll pay for this" lol

I'm here (briefly). Got a real estate transcript to get out this afternoon, and then back to my slasher trial after dinner.

Took my grandmother's chiming clock to the clock shop -- it hadn't been working well, and recently stopped working entirely. They wanted me to put a value on the receipt for insurance purposes, and I had no idea. They suggested $300. The clock doctor will take a look at it and call me with an estimate for the repairs. I'm hoping it just needs oil and cleaning.

Well !!! You're my friend aren't you and friends share?

I wish I could share some of our temperature with you as well. It's currently 73 f with 84% humidity, which I think is about 23 c.

Oh dear, whatsup ?

Have to confess I am ahead on wrapping, all done except for one thing. I went and had X-rays this a.m. and picked up my new contacts.

So now, a break until the cooking rigmarole begins lol

Well I could just as well have been on rctn today. I ran out of work at

10 a.m., and so spent most of the day researching property tax assessments for my area next year, and phoning trades people to make appointments for next week. Then I went and bought new shoes. They were on sale. I showed restraint. I would have bought another pair if I weren't already being bad.

Tomorrow is my 'team building Christmas' day, so I have to read my personality profile tonight to see if I can make any sense of it. From what I've read of it so far, I don't think I'm going to have any 'breakthroughs'.

I'm just about finished with the Christmas cards. I've got 2 more letters to pump out and that's it. Dora

Do tell us how it went afterwards and what other people came up with, I don't believe there can be a failure really lol You can fool them all into thinking you are a deep thinker and that yours is so complex it's they who can't figure it out. Good Luck anyway.

Well, I am glad you guys are still in my cyberworld. I just have not been able to feel at all Christmassy; haven't got the tree up yet, and no presents bought! I think all 11 grandkids are getting cold, hard cash............I hate to do it, but I haven't a clue what they want, need or wear. I did get the majority of the cards and Annual letter out during the last two days, and we did go out to dinner with 9 friends for a joint Holiday Dinner, and to celebrate one guy's 88th birthday.

Just to add to it, I am hurting!! Pulled a ligament or something on lower left side; it feels like a stitch, and is painful when I move. The right knee is playing up with arthritis. While at the Drs yesterday, checking the first pain, I decided to have a flu shot. Darn me if that didn't start hurting an hour or so back, and I've started running a fever.

Have I whined enough???? LOL

Whine away. It's good for the soul.

This year's flu shot gave me an afternoon of feeling crummy, but by morning I was fine. I hope it goes away as quickly for you.

Incidentally, did anyone notice that all the "youngsters" are not here while us elder statesmen are all up and still typing away?

LOL - I'm happily taking on the role of youngster. I've had a day and a half of shopping. Yesterday - for my excellent bargain - got 3 suits - 2 of which were 70% off (black with pinstripes, black with flecks), the 3rd was

55% off (blue - not quite navy - with pin stripes), and then had a total 20 % coupon for the store. They all had something interesting - either a surprise pleated detail in the back, or kind of funky cuffs, or detailing on the lapels and really nice buttons .I think Macy's here isn't going to carry this line of better women's suits anymore, hence the great sale. Woo hoo. But, of course this meant today - finding tops (1 deep rosey mauve silk blouse, 1 white on white cotton, and one lovely copper colored silk scoop neck jersey for the black with copper & teal flecked suit) - all on sale (albeit at Nordies), and 2 pairs of shoes - one blue, one black (but given that I wear 2 different sizes, and one is wide to ww it's a big deal when I can find 2 pairs at the same time) and Nordie's does the mismatch at no charge (size difference more than a full size or size and a half depending on store). But, didn't want to be teetering around on my higher heels at job interview - these are more sensible-ish heels. Pair of blue (like round toed Mary Janes but with a thin double strap on an angle across the instrep) and just nice, black kind of slightly more stylish black (to go with my collection).

Then we found some stuff in the dishes/servingware - more gifts - etc. So, I think I'm done.

Oh, yeah - I found a wallet that I've been needing, wanting for about a year. And I refused to pay the price that the nice ones were. And there - on the sale table - a biggish one with checkbook part, and a smaller one - in lovely red leather. For less than half price. Woo hoo - took the smaller one - told DH he bought me a wallet for Chanukah. He can go find the checkbook on his own for my Christmas presenet. He's quite thrilled with himself.

Now - the real question - can I get to where all the already wrapped and stashed gifts are in the sunroom. And where all the wrapping paper is - as I have to ship out the Chanukah gifts tomorrow - hey - there are 8 days - they'll get there in time. And then ship out after wrapping all the stuff to the SILs, etc. And then wrap DH's stuff - which is all hidden - some in plain view but he hasn't even looked at the stack of bags around.

And then - I can start putting together the 17 gift packs for the various people at the Verizon Center (the arena) that we give stuff to. And I guess I'll be baking on the 21st - cause I have to deliver gifts on the 22nd.

Oh, did I mention also that one of the job apps has garnered an interview about which I am incredibly neurotic - hence the reason for the suits. Kind of a let the games begin thing. So, I've been busy sending e-mails all over the place tracking down former colleagues, etc for references. Dang it's hard to do that.

Oh - and I had to go to the dentist very early this a.m.

And dang it - you elder statesmen - for whatever reason - the night sweats started at about 3 in the morning - so I'm hoping that's not going to keep up. Dang it.

I'm Baaaaaaaack!

Got a reprieve! :) The judge handling the slasher case needs to interrupt it for another trial, so I'll only have one more same-day transcript next week, and then we'll set it aside till next month. So, I can catch up on the housework and billpaying and remaining Christmas stuff that's fallen by the wayside the last couple weeks.

Nah - you carry on if it makes you feel better. You don`t OFTEN whine! ;-))

Funny how flu shots vary - never a twinge with ours this year, although sometimes we`ve felt as if we`ve had a mini-flu after them.

Lol - not a good time for you. Get Jim to pour you something nice and put your feet up !

Remember a few years ago we discussed (at length) giving cash and/or gift certificates ? It became clear that while everyone loved to receive same, not too many people felt it was okay to give them.

I learnt a lesson from that. No more trudging the malls looking for gifts and winding up buying something I am not sure about. If I see something during the year that is just right for the person, I will buy it, but otherwise I either give a mall gift certificate or cash. I do try to do something jokey with it.

This year I am doing a Coronation Street theme. I was busy on ebay for a couple of months and have calendars, jigsaw puzzles, mugs, tshirts etc which are wrapped along with the gift certs. Then when the sales start, THEY can go out and get their own stuff and not have to do returns lol

I just have two non-viewers one is into Nascar and likes Jimmy Johnson so his will come attached to a Piss on Dale Earnhart button and for my son I have a soccer ball mug for World Cup 2006.

I would like to drop the gift side entirely and just have the family meal, that's the thing I love the best.

I was sleeping, working and working. Wed night was the night at Harry & david that we had to get all of the orders enterred that were mailed/faxed/emailed in without eating the express charges. I stayed until 2;30 Wednesday night (actually Thursday morning) got to bed at

3:45, woke up at 11:20, went to work from 12: 30 at the library (depressed since the library committee decided to make a pre-emptive strike to close ALL of the libraries in March & "mothball" them until we can open again to be sure the county doesn't step in to sell off any part of them) and then went to work again at Harry & David from 7 to 12, to find out that the seasonal layoffs there start with the coming week's schedule. That was expected, but disappointing because they've been overstaffed this year for the amount of work coming in so none of us is getting as many hours as we did last year. I keep reminding myself that DH & I have each other, a house and a good roof over our heads, which is a lot more than many other people have, but can't help being worried about how we're going to hanlde the last 7 months of a chapter 13 bankruptcy once I get laid off in March. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason. At least I'll have all my Saturdays off so as not to miss any EGA meetings, Saturday stitch ins or hikes! :-) :-( Liz from Humbug
