OT: Moving to Lizard Land

Well, it's finally here!!! DH and I have started the laborious process of taking 90% of our tchackis off the walls, etc. and packing things away to get the house ready to list it for sale! Hopefully, we will have it ready as planned by mid March. Most of the downstairs echos it is so bare :-(((. The kitchen and dining room tables are covered with "stuff" which I will start to pack away later today. DH has been patching holes and touching up the paint as he goes. I've been putting stuff aside to go to the Goodwill or to be tossed out. I still have several Santa things (for which I am getting paid) I have to get sewn before I can start on the sewing/craft room. I've got his new shirt cut out and then I have to add fur cuffs to several pairs of red velvet pants and a new dress for Mrs. Santa. VBS -- I do have my work cut out for MOI!!! Our Real Estate lady was over several weeks ago and brought comops for four homes in our subdivision that have been on the market last year. THREE of these are our same floor plan, too. One was in foreclosure so it has been on the market for almowt a year and is still for sale. The other two are under contract and it took less than 60 days! THAT is an encouraging sign. The RE lady said that January was the strongest month she's had in three years so that's good news, too. Hopefully, out big, well established yard and the finished basement will be strong selling points for the house. The subdivision is nice, too. There are only 100 homes here and we have a lovely pool, nice tennis courts, a kids play area and a HUGE open soccer/baseball field that local teams use for their games. The back of our house looks down onto a beautiful wooded area with a small creek at the bottom. Up a small hill on the other side of the creek is the street that runs in front of the pool and down to the soccer field. Everything is within walking distance (even for me and my arthritic knees) but screened by all of the trees. anwya, the whole moving things is now upon me and I am getting very sad to be leaving my wonderful friends here. Of course, I will be very close to the family and that is wonderful. I'm just hoping that the house sells before summer hits. If not, then we will take it off the market until spring of next year. Either way, *I* will be living in Lizard Land -- by myself up at the cabin if necessary. DH, Cassie (Old Lady Baby Cat) and I will drive out this year so that I have my car. I'll schlepp as much stuff as I can and then DH will fly back here -- all assuming the house has not yet sold. If the house does sell, then all five of us are off to Lizard Land. Now sure how we will do that yet with the three cats. I *could but Bunnie Sue(Lard Butt Fat Cat) in steerage and take Ivy jane (Black Stealth Kitty) and Cassie in the cabin with us. DH doesn't like to rush into these things too quickly. Oh well -- right now I will just worry about getting stuff off the walls & shelves and packed away. I need to get a Saint Joseph to bury in the ground once we are ready to put the house on the market!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Would you mind explaining the bit about St Joseph? Sounds fascinating.

Thanks,

Burying a statue of St. Joseph in your yard -- some say he must be upside down -- is supposed to help your sell quicker. Some enterprising soul even offers statues made specifically for this with instructions, etc.. I have seen it in one of my catalogues, just can't remember which one! I'm not the religious sort but I have learned that a few prayers to St. Anthony help me find something that is lost or misplaced so I'll go with the notion of the whole St. Joseph tradition.
