OT: Remember that New Printer???

So, I finally got stuff rearranged and moved around so that I could have a place big enough to put the wireless printer. I had several people tell me that it would be **really** easy to set up -- HA-HA-HA!!! It only took me FIVE HOURS to set up this piece of electronic wizardry plus about half a dozen calls to DH. It took near an hour just to unpack the damned thing! There must have been a roll of orange tape on that thing holding each and every movable piece in place. Add acres of plastic wrap to the thing and I just unwrapped and unwrapped and unwrapped! VBS and after another hour I had the printer set up and make a color copy -- by hand, not through the computer hookup. I had made the mistake of reading through the owners manual to get some idea of what I would need to do to get the thing hooked up with the computer. I think there were about six different ways of setting this thing up and I understood absolutely NONE of them except that I wanted a wireless set up. I called DH and found out that I have a Wi-Fi system and beyond that the only other thing I knew was my system name! After another hour and half of trying to understand what info I needed, I just put the disk in the computer and got as far along as I could. I needed the system name (which I knew) and some sort of "key something or other". I had NO IDEA what the key thingie was and then, after entering the system name, the computer/printer wanted something called the Pass????? number. I entered all of the different number I thought might be right and each time got a message saying there weren't enough numbers. I finally decided that the only number left that might be applicable was my phone number so I entered that and VOILA' it worked! One wonders WHY they didn't just say that in the first place? Every f*&^ing piece of info the system wanted had a regular everyday name but could the directions ASK for the easy name??? NO WAY those ass wipe techno-geeks just absolutely have to use THEIR special language and make things way too difficult for the "common" everyday computer user who happens to be not too swift with the techno crap. Anyway, The printer is up and running and has NO WIRES except for the one hooking it to the electrical outlet for power. I DID IT despite the techno crap and didn't even have to pester any of you -- well, except for this post :-))). I DID tell DH that next time he wants to get me a piece of electrical techno hardware, he should wait to give it to me until he's here to hook it up. He agreed, too -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
