OT: Unpacked Finally -- Just yammering a bit

Of course, you all know that getting all the boxes and buckets unpacked is only half the problem -- LOL! I still have a bunch of stuff that I need to find a spot for! I have been merciless in going through all the closets and drawers. I have a huge bag of stuff to go to the Goodwill plus a bunch of crap tossed in the trash. I have to shake my head at some of the stuff I have kept hanging around, just because there was room for it -- LOLOL! There is some makeup here that has to be at least 14 years old -- wrong color for MOI also! I desperately need to rearrange all the stuff on the shelves in the little bathroom. When DH remodeled the bathroom 13 years ago, I had him build shelves in the corner behind the door. This is where I keep the towels and the tp & tissues on the really high top shelf. I think there are five shelves and I have the towels spread out. Those shelves need to be rearranged so that I have room for my "get well" (that's what we call makeup), my hair stuff and all my meds & vitamins, etc. I have most of my clothes put away -- finally! What a chore. I need to get one of those almost flat storage boxes that go under the bed. That's where I will keep my winter jammies, robe, scarves, etc. I am literally shoehorning myself into this cabin!! DH says I should belong to the Sardine Packers Association because I can get a lot of stuff squirreled away in the smallest spaces! The other thing that needs rearranging is all of my needlework stuff. I have just been tossing it into the little cardboard dresser that used to belong to my sister. All of the kits, fabric and big stuff is in two of the drawers in the guest room dresser. It's all the little stuff -- beads, extra scissors, Kreinik, needles, extra "sproingy" retractable dohickeys, etc that needs to be rearranged. To make matters even more interesting, the SMDGD gets here manana to stay for a week so all of my time will be spent helping her learn to sew, gardening and doing all sorts of crafts. We have potholders to weave, beads to be strung, t-shirts to be tie-dyed (if I can find the supplies at Wally World), birds to be fed, pinecones to be coated with p-nut butter and hung in the trees, etc. I'm thinking of having her make some bread dough things, too. I found the directions for that and it's been a bazillion years since I have done it. Oh well, enough yammering. If I don't get my lazy Irish arse up off this sofa, I'll never get anything done. Especially when I have to stop every few hours and love on Cassie (The Beige Old Lady Baby Cat). She sleeps a lot now but when she wakes up, first thing she does is start to crab at me and expect me to stop whatever I am doing and give her loves :-))). What can I say?? She's really old and gets whatever she wants. OK - CiaoMeow >^;;^<

LOL- I'm impressed that TM is going forward full steam ahead. We're still getting this house in order - which I completely blame on the inertia that set in once the builders had to fix so much and stopped me from getting everything in order. I think the fear of moving is why DH refuses to look outside of the DC area - or even this side of the Beltway - for another job.

Mary, sounds like you're doing just fine. For me I think it takes a couple of go 'rounds to get things sort of right. There's always "the plan" , the reality of that unpacking plan, and then after living with it a while the "revision" of the plan. I just told DH that he has to participate in some of my weeding out - as we, like you, have found so much stuff that has trekked around with us that it's hard to believe. I'm pretty brutal about getting rid of things, so I think he has to participate a bit so there's not some big brouha about me tossing stuff that he wanted to keep.

Craft, arts stuff - always a question. We keep going back and forth about removing the closet door in my office/studio room. Now I'm thinking to leave it, and put one of those back of door shelf things meant for the pantry - I just found an unused one in our storage room.

Just enjoy the new "old" place, and the visit, all that quality time with the SMDGD. What fun. Give Cassie a scratch for me - we're keeping company with the recuperating Puckster (who still isn't supposed to do stairs, so we're sleeping in the family room with him) - every time he's left alone the whining is incredible - I think the neighbors were going to call the ASPCA!

I know you're having some fun now!
