Remember Mary Vandenberg...Needlework Teacher?

Mary Vandenberg stitched and designed some of the most beautiful hardanger pieces I have ever seen. Her company name was The Elegant Needle. She taught for The Creative Arts and Textiles Show (now known as the Cross Stitch Festival) and the National Counted Cross Stitch Show.

A few years ago Mary had a stroke and lost touch with 'our world' of needlework. I thought a few of you might like to know how to reach her and give her a few words of encouragement.

Mary is doing much better, although she has had quite an adjustment. She lives alone in a condo in Grand Haven, Michigan and goes to church regularly.

Her life has changed considerably since the stroke. She can no longer see well enough to stitch, nor can she play her beloved viola. She speaks well but tires easily. She enjoys cooking because it is one of the few things she can share with others.

If ANYONE would like to contact Mary, please email me and I will send you her contact information. She would love to hear from friends and former students.

I am hoping to visit her this fall, so if anyone has an idea or would like to participate in a 'project' to show Mary how much we care and wish her well I would love to get it going.

Thank You... Margaret Lee snipped-for-privacy@margaretlee.com
