Sadly, another LNS Closing

Hi all,

I just received this e-mail and I'm sickened by it. Now we have nowhere to buy but on-line or Michael's, the rip off store.

NOTICE

After 35 years, Loving Stitch will be closing on April 30, 2010.

We are placing our last orders on March 26, 2010. We will take pre-paid orders for the following items up to that date:

Dimensions Kits

Beads

Kreinik

Books carried by Hoffman Distributing

Our store policy has also changed to read: All Sales Final.

We will have further details for our closing towards the end of March.

It's been years since we had an LNS in Halifax, so you've been somewhat lucky. Used to be one an hours drive away but that went two years ago and the closest would be a three hour drive to Moncton in NB.

I'm sorry to hear this. That happened here a couple of years ago and I never got over missing the store. Michael's hasn't got much to choose from and Joanne's is just as bad.

I get almost everything on line now, or via telephone.

I know my LNS is trying to survive.

How sad. The two LNSs I frequented have gone in the past couple of years. A nearby one is needlepoint only. There are a couple clear on the other side of Pgh but as per usual in PA the roads to them are usually under construction and I haven't learned yet what they carry. I was spoiled by the others. If I'm in a pinch for DMC floss, I hit Michaels or Joanns since they're near where DM gets her hair done every Friday. Otherwise I end up online.

Oh dear. You will all just have to come and visit me and stock up. I have one good one just five blocks from my house (Tia Mary has visited that one) and several more, at least two excellent ones I can think of, out in the suburbs, but only a half hour's drive away.

(The guest room has twin beds, after that it is an air mattress on the floor).

I was at mine yesterday. She shares the building with her husband's business...Bob is a structural engineer. With the downturn in construction, and the crunch for all of us, Carolyn is having it rough, too. Her excellent framer has gone back to UK, so she is trying to keep up with the framing, and keep inventory up with just herself and a part-time employee.

Her framing is excellent, and very reasonable. I had my second palm tree framed, and picked it up yesterday. I had prepaid for the frame, because we wanted to be sure the frames matched, She just charged me 16.89 for the stretching, pinning, spacers, glass and her time. The frame was $40.

It was the date palm, to go with the coconut palm by RK Designs.

I do love everything by RK Designs. I admit to coveting the dragonfliess (no that is not a hint)

I have her Eagle above my desk, and I have done several of the little ones. I wonder where I put them; haven't seen them for a while.

I want to do one or two of the Makimoto (?sp) pics; Shena did one, and it looks so good. She is a Florida designer, and Carolyn helped launch her several years ago.
