Score!!

Our church had a rummage sale Friday afternoon and yesterday. I didn't get to look at much stuff, as dh and I were in charge of sorting the books, and we had a HUGE amount. (105 cases altogether, when sorted).

However, just before we opened I was walking past the "boutique" table, and saw a lap frame. I have been thinking of buying one, but wasn't sure what kind to get.

This one was marked $5. I snatched it up immediately. It also had some Aida on it, partly stitched, and a pattern. When I got it home, the pattern was an M L-I chart "Tea Garden", from 1989. No floss, of course. The frame itself is 16" inside width, and when I turned it over the name is K's Creations. Mind you, the ones I have seen online the last two days have a piece which this one doesn't, something which appears to be attached to the front of the base, does anyone know what it is? It doesn't appear to be crucial.

Anyway, as I do NOT do cross stitch, I shall take the chart to our next guild meeting and see if anyone wants it, and in the meantime I will try to find the time - or the energy - to sew my current jacobean style project onto it. Having pretty much got out of bed to help with the rummage sale, and been working on adrenalin all week (I had intended to go over there for a couple of hours Mon, Wed and Fri, but the amount of books we got demanded many more hours)I may spend this coming week back in bed.

Oh well, as I tell dh, I have to push the envelope a little, and how do I know how much I can do before I find I have overdone things?

Howja like that. A beautiful frame, which some ignorant fool had marked for $5. Good job I saw it first.

I too have both the floor and lap models and love them. Do check their web site. I recommend the perfect tension side bars as a worthwhile addition. AAJASC Bobbie V.

Totally great score. If it's older, before about 1999 - then it's probably one of their standard lap frame bases. Is it the type with 2 arms? There is a way that they slide to adjust width. If it just has the 1 arm it may be a Z-frame. What you could do is call them - they're always very helpful with customer service. The frames used to have lifetime guarantees - they might ask you to send a photo by e-mail so that they can see what you're missing. I can't tell you more without looking at it. I have 2 K's frames and love them. There is a contact number at the website:

I've spoken with them both for one of my own frames (which neededa hole to be drilled) as well as for customers when I was working in theLNS. I think they'll help you out. Ellice

In that cse I think it is one of their older models. It has one arm on each side, and is not adjustable for width, but it raises and lowers beautifully. The twill tape is stapled on, not tacked, so I don't know if that is original or not, but I do know that most upholsterers have gone to staples these days, so it may well be original. We have had several elderly ladies in the parish die off since Katrina (it took a terrible toll on everyone over 55) and many of their families have just given all the small, portable items to the church rather than trying to have an estate sale from out of town.
