Silk Broadcloth?

I know someone here stitched the Elizabethan Sweetbag from Inspirations #51 and I'm wondering if you used the silk broadcloth it calls for and if so, where you got it? I can't find any for the life of me except on country bumpkin's website and I don't really want to order a half metre from Australia when all I need is a 12 x 16" piece. Does anyone know what would be comparable in weight? I looked at cotton broadcloth but it seems too flimsy...

TIA for any info or advice,

What about a nice remnant piece of damask or polished cotton? Or delustered satin backed with calico(muslin)?

Hello Jeanine

It was me that did the sweetbag - one of the lovliest pieces of stitching I've ever done!

I bought the kit from Country Bumpkin - and thus used the silk broadcloth they specified. I've never seen any other fabric like it, and it is a joy to stitch on. For the sweet bag it is backed with calico/muslin to give it a bit of extra body.

My sister is normally a resident of Virginia, but is coming home tomorrow for a 3 week visit - I could get some silk for her to mail to you when she returns - thus saving your postage cost!

Cheers
