Stash lack

So I went rooting thorough my stash yesterday. (I'm going to be stitching a couple of little "I Love You/Je t'aime" pillows that are being sent to the Canadian troops by the EAC.) You need to do them exactly as the pattern is written - on 14 count white Aida

Now you have to realize that I have a double cupboard of fabric, fibers books, beads, etc. etc. Linen in multiple counts and colours, Jobelan, Hardanger, waste canvas, needlepoint canvas, backing fabrics, Lugana, but Aida? - nope. None, nil, nada!! Not even a scrap in the sample packs of different fabrics.

Thank goodness there is a little shop in town. She specializes more in knitting supplies, but does have a stitching corner with DMC, some fabrics and limited patterns.

So now I can stitch the pillows and get them submitted.

Have you ever gone looking for something you know you must have, only to find yourself completely out?

Been there, done that, more often than I like to think about :-). BUT -- speaking of 14 ct. aida -- I have LOADS of it (it was given to MOI) and if you plan on doing any more of the pillows, I would be more than happy to send you some. It would be such a great use for this fabric :-). Send me an e-mail and let me know what size the pillows are, OK? CatWom7711 at aol dot com CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Wanted to say on the same line of the other reply about "been there..."

My fun right now is the upgrade program for the house that I got involved with, things are being stored in smaller spaces till areas are completed....lol.

Don't have the fabric problem since I don't keep much on hand, but the rest is my fun for finding. DMC floss is my most fun I have been given stash from a few friend/associates that don't do any such crafts anymore for different reasons, also have found great deals at the local charity store where I now have on average 10-12 of every floss [some alot more each]. Been trying to get them all wrapped on plastic cards using my winder, that sounded 'easy' when thought of it................think my finger tips are permanently numb and only have got 25% done with the winding and labels. Easy to find colours wrapped, been nightmare for most of the rest.....lol

Been buying lots of charts, books, and kits also from the charity store, save to much spend $50-100 and get the value of at least $500 most times which cannot do at retail every month. Just have to get time to get everything on some database for what I have, now at the point that memory can't keep up with everything. Same thing as yourself, know it is there.............somewhere!! I did see it there! I have a note about it and the page.........lol

Scary thing for me is I only started in last 3 years by friend while doing one of my hospital stays to not be bored, did needle work in areas other than cross stitch. Thinking on how my stash will be in 10 or 20 years, that is a "interesting" thought.
