Stash-y question part two

Part two - stashy gifting

Would you rather receive

charts in a theme (say spring)

charts by a favorite designer that you don't have yet

Charts by a designer that I've never seen but was the prefect choice

Or A chart, with fibers and fabric all kitted up for you. Maybe needles too?

Living in the middle of nowhere with no LNS within a reasonable distance, the chart with fibers and fabric all kitted up would be heaven.

Needles can be gotten at Michael's or Joann's, but their choices of fabric and floss leaves much to be desired.

charts by a designer that I've never seen but with the perfect choice

I'd say the latter 2 as my second choice. Hate the theme idea - but that's me. And I'm not much of a cutesy or theme type stitcher.

Definitely my preference. This is what I've done mostly - especially if I find a perfect fabric, or any specialty threads. Lets the recipient jump right in, as opposed to being a gift that means you have to go spend/shop to use it.

What if the theme was hockey or specialty stitches? Or something that fit your tastes as a theme....

A chart by a favourite designer. My stash is so large that I should (yah, right) be able to put together everything I need to stitch, unless it has some unusual fibres needed. It's sorta of stitching Murphy's Law

- if I get a new chart there will always be something needed that I don't have.

Maybe. I'd be sure about what I was choosing. Of course, I've done as much for you....But, maybe I assume you're nicer than me, or less picky. Honestly, I think this is one of those depends on the proposed recipient and what you know of them, their tastes, etc.

For you, I might pick out a local canvas designer or a vintage book of designs or stitches. Then again, you'd be harder than most to find just the right items since you. LOL

Something all kitted up is really tempting--especiallly since my LSN closed. I like seeing charts by designers I have never heard about, so that would be my first pick. though.

I would have to say charts by a favourite designern that I don't have yet. I have SO much fabric & fiber stash that I don't need more. I'm also one of those who buys something I like as soon as I see it so finding anything I would like that I don't already have would be tough

I have no theme, so no thanks.

I don't usually like *every* chart a designer comes up with, so this one would be very iffy...

Good possibility here... but if it's the "prefect"'s choice, wouldn't the prefect want it? ;)

If it had lots of specialty fibers I wouldn't already have. I never know what to do with the leftover floss from kits. I can't seem to toss them nor do I ever seem to use them in anything else!

Nah, have more than enough of those, especially after cleaning out DdepartedMIL's stash.

So, Cheryl, when do I receive said gifts? :):):)

Definitely the chart, fibers, fabric, needles all kitted up and ready to go. Susan

I agree, too. I would *love* to get a great pattern all kitted up and ready to go. But for me, it isn't the receiving of all the "stuff" that makes it great, it's the obvious thought and care that went into putting it together especially for *me* that means more. I did this for my sister one Christmas of a pattern she really wanted, and to this day she still hasn't started it. That was eight years ago, and since it was an infant/child pattern intended to be stitched for her first born, I really doubt she's ever going to stitch it now even if she could find the time. I know, it was a gift and thus her choice to make it or not, but dang it, I spent over $80 putting it all together! :-(
