Stitching Resolutions

Happy New Year all.

I was wondering if anyone makes stitching resolutions. I normally don't make New Years resolutions but with a few stitching resolutions bouncing around the old noggin I thought if I put them in writing on rctn I just might at least make an attempt to keep them. So here goes.

  1. Assemble the Xmas ornaments I finished stitching but did not have time to assemble before Christmas before I pick up "Fractal 53" or start any other new project.

  1. Assemble the needle case I finished stitching last fall before "Fractal 53" etc.

  2. Try a new fiber. I've got some silks I got last year with a chart for a biscornu; Hopefully I'll get to it.

  1. Pick only one or two Xmas ornaments from next year's JCS ornament issue for gifts and leave any others I want to make to 2012 for breaks from large projects.

Those all sound wise and achievable.

My resolutions -

1 - finish the baby dragons - I'm on X and will finish before spring 2 - finish the two bookmarks I have going and that means FINISHED... LOL

I figured I'd start small. And given my track record for "finishes" would be a good start.

I'm on the "short term goals" track...

Since I now vork day shift only, I'm going to stitch on SOMETHING every night. By sticking to that plan I should have several finishes this year, without getting bogged down by one or two projects.

Here is my list for 2011:

  1. Finish the Tut Falcon pectoral canvas bought in 1979. I finally found the right thread for it, started it over (for the third time) and it's working up fast!

  1. Finish Kay Stanis' "Silk & Metal" EGA group correspondence course (started about 20 years ago).

  2. EGA group correspondence course "White Queen" that I am taking with the local chapter.

  1. EGA group correspondence course "Shading Stitches" by Judy Jeroy that was one of the discounted online classes offered Nov-Dec 2010.

  2. EGA seminar classes by Marsha Papay Gomola, "The Tropical Beading Box" and "The Exotic Accessories", both of which I am taking at the seminar in September.

I think I have lost my mind to sign up for four classes this year, but they are all techniques I like or want to learn.

Given that I have two tapestries to finish, my New Year resolution is not to get involved in my wife's new interest in 'long stitch'. If experience is anything to go by, this will come my way to finish (undo and restart) sometime in June!

Um, well, here goes:

Get the next 2 sets of proposals in on time (being Jan 17 & Jan 30).

Actually get the charts the way I want them for the piece I'm teaching in Feb.

Get the 2 90% finished pieces done and to the framer by early Feb so they can go to Woodlawn.

Get the Master Craftsman submittal for spring finished......

Put the WIPs in order and keep trudging through them... Finish the Spot Sampler a.s.a.p (it's so close) Pick back up the Love & Wisdom Sampler - finish it next

Keep on trying to be discerning about what gets added to stash....

That's enough, ah - hope springs eternal Ellice

Anne - sounds to me that you're hoping to get a lot done!

LOL - this reminds me of a Joyce Lukomski class I took at seminar in 2001 - and still haven't completely finished - and DH keeps reminding me about. Kay's stuff is just so fabulous, no doublt it's a worthy course to finish.

They all sound fab... And, you reminded me that I left off the Understanding Color class by Mary Shipp, which I managed to put together a little group to do as correspondence - and our first due date is March 1. So, my goal is to actually get some group get-togethers arranged, and the course done in a timely fashion..
