What is a "mirror post?"

I've seen mentions of Mirror Posts here, and how some people post around tr ying to get money through their advertisers. Having recently started a goog le group for stitchers in my local area, I have no idea how to identify a m irror post...any tips so I can keep my forum free of them?

I'm sorry this topic isn't stitching related...please feel free to move it or delete it if you find it inappropriate.

It seems a lot of stitchers are on facebook, but I'm very, very reluctant t o get into that whole thing. I've avoided it thus far, but perhaps that's t he reason I haven't met any local stitchers.

They re-post it signature and all -- hence the "this is a Usenet post" line in my sig. In response, they have begun requiring a click to read the whole signature. But they can't take the sig off entirely, because it would spoil the illusion that they have lots and lots of people on their musty little forum, and editing the sigs would require human intervention. The budget doesn't even allow for censoring exchanges like this one.

But it's been a long time since ego-searching turned up pages that are wastebaskets filled with random snippets from assorted forums and sites. I suspect that the change is in the algorithms of the search engines, rather than in the quantity of "scraper" sites.

The shop I liked in Delaware closed, is was up for sale, no takers. She was willing to sell for the cost of her inventory.

So now I go to (and shop online) The Strawberry Sampler.

Rich, thank you so much for leaving a link to the Strawberry Sampler. They had some beautiful and very unique things there, and I just ordered $300 wo rth of gorgeous stuff. I especially like that they have a lot of frames and boxes you can order right with your with stitchy stuff, which makes it eas ier to complete a project. What a find!

Thanks for the link, Rich! I looked at it briefly and I will definitely be going there again to do a bit more searching!

This is one of the things I've missed most with the dearth of posters... the enabling!
