Where is everyone?????

I guess you must all be out enjoying the nice weather!

I've been home playing nurse to DH, who had one knee replacement surgery on May 15, and the 2nd on Monday. He's been keeping me pretty busy! LOL

Anyone have any county/state fairs coming up that you're entering? I can't think of anything I've finished in the last year to enter! I must have *something*.......

We were hoping DH would be having his other knee replaced this summer (firs t one was done in 2009) but we have to get his diabetes numbers down a bit before the surgeon will operate.

Not much new stitching going on since I'm taking a break from the baby samp ler and working on a hand project for the library. I'll be "teaching" a pr oject where we trace a child's hand on a piece of fabric & then they stitch around it. Once it's done, we center it in a wooden hoop, cut the excess fabric off of the back and run a line of glue around it. They have somethi ng ready to hang as soon as they get home. :-)

I have a really simple sample made, for younger kids but am working on a mo re advanced one to entice tweens & teens that has pink fingernails and will have a ring on it. For the "jewel" on the ring I'm going to use a single pierced earring.

I am here reading but haven't done any stitching for a long time. I really hope to get back to it soon. Sharon in MN

I still check in every week, but lately there have been no new posts.

I am still stitching the Ivory-Billed woodpecker, but my daughter and grands are visiting next week and staying for a month, so the stitching will be put away. Have to give up my dedicated stitching spot on the couch.

It has been quiet again Rich. I have not been stitching for a while and really want to get back to it but to have to put it away when you are in the mood for stitching is really hard. I would do that when my brother would come to visit before he passed. I am hoping that by this fall I will be in the mood again to stitch. It has been quite a while and I love stitching. Hope to see a little activity here soon. Sharon in MN

Cool project!!! Metallic thread? Maybe some sequins or plastic "crystals"? I have some of those and some various-sized pearls left over from a dress I made for DD's best friend once upon a time. I also have a small jar of miscellaneous unknown beads. Want them? I'd be happy to send them.

Email me, rather than the group, in case I don't get back here soon enough.

Get out those simple patterns, odd pieces of aida and your old hoops and teach the grands how to stitch, Gramps! :)

How old are they? My DGD is almost old enough to teach...I can hardly wait!

So sorry to hear about your brother, Sharon. (((((((((Sharon))))))))

Maybe stitch something in his honor?

Ooo, just had another idea! They can use the beads to decorate the fingernails! :)

Here's my current project:

I'm probably about 2/3 done with it. I'm also knitting another cable afghan.

I have been enjoying the nice weather and the rainy weather as well! Yard work when it's nice and stitching when it's rainy. I went through my WIPs bin and put all my old WIPs on qsnaps or scroll rods. A couple of WIPs were too small for qsnaps, but they got finished anyway. The two that I finished were "With enough coffee I could rule the world" and the "Pastel Heart Sampler" by Woolgathering. Not sure of that website.

Now that I have most of my WIPs at the ready, maybe I can get them done so I can start something new!

Ready WIPs:

  1. The Castle by TW
  2. Majestic Eagle by Sunset (a kit)
  3. Feathered Stars by Design Works Crafts (a kit)
  4. The Promise-Bald Eagle by The Gold Collection (Dimensions kit)
  5. Too Cold To Go Outside by Julia Lucas (from a magazine)

Ok, I confess. I started a new project last night. But project #5 is almost done, I just need to finish shiny threads and the beads! The new project is very small, under 3 inches square. It's called "Heart - Zigzag Rainbow" by Katherine Martin Tripp from the website

Not sure if it was free or not, but it's cute, small and colorful.

I feel so much better now that I've confessed. As punishment I'll do more housework...tomorrow!!!

So what is everyone else up to?

Sincerely,

Up to no good, Dawn

I'm still here but knitting rather than stitching proper. My younger daughter goes to a yoga session and one of the others enquired after her socks. So you can guess, I wound up committing to two pairs for her. She wanted to pay me but since she and her husband go yearly for a couple of months to work with Cambodian kids, I said no, 'what goes around comes around' - anyway the circle completes itself I suppose as any yarn I have left over goes to a friend who knits bears that are given to the fire department and police for 'stress bears' for kids. So I had more yarn for her :)

I been "lurking" for ages, but rain this weekend meant I finally got a few more stitches done on my "Rowan Tree" crewel kit. I have also knitted a couple of scarves. link to a picture of one of my scarves..

Well, the 9yo is definitely old enough. DD did her first piece when she was 7.

Have fun with them!!!

That's quite a list, Dawn!

Yup, it's a freebie and really cute!

How was your penance? Do you now have a sparkly home? ;)

I'm about 2/3 done with my Victorian house project and about 1/4 done with my cable afghan.

I don't do facebook either. I haven't been stitching until the last couple of days and have finally picked up needle and thread again and I am sure enjoying it. Good to see you Louise. Sharon in MN
