working on plastic canvas hints

I'm working on a set of penguin ornaments for DD, but it's on 14 count plastic canvas. I don't want to put then on fabric because I don't think they'd be easy to do an alternate finishing technique on. (trust me on this)

any hints for making this easier on my fingers? I find my hands hurt after about 20 minutes of stitching....I've actually thought about figuring out a way to put this project in a Q-snap

Why is it hurting your hands? I've done a bunch of plastic canvas and don't remember having this type of problem so I'm curious. My one problem with pc is that I had to work it "in hand" -- never even dawned o MOI that I could "joe mcgee" a way to put it into my needlework frame!!! That shouldn't be too difficult -- the picture that came to mind was sewing some scrap fabric around all four sides of the piece of pc, making sure there was enough to fabric to put into whatever frame it is you would use. You'd have top make sure to cut your pieces of pc a bit larger to accommodate the stitching for the fabric -- or you could just wait and do the last row of stitching all 'round until after you remove the "frame fabric". Being as you are working on ornaments, the pieces shouldn't be too large. OOOOOOO I'm so glad you mentioned putting the pc into a Q-snap or I would likely never have thought of doing this!!!! I have some kitty ornaments I have been thinking of doing but didn't want to have to work "in hand" as it bothers my arthritis. Now I can go ahead and put that project into my rotation :-). Thanks bunches for the idea!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Don't ;^p

Just do the pieces on 14 ct mono canvas - which you can easily put onto stretcher bars. And then the finishing isn't really difficult, and both sides will look nice.
